NewbieGames Weekly Game #1 - Kicking off with a GAME within a game!
What is the NewbieGames Weekly Game?
As part of the #newbiegames initiative @newbiegames will be hosting a weekly game to help support all game makers and players. The format of the game will vary each week, with the aim of increasing engagement within the community and evolve based on your comments and feedback so that we can get more involvement and participation from everyone.
Week 1 Game - A Game within a Game x
If you haven't guessed it already, the title and the image of that iconic spinning top from the movie 'Inception' hopefully gives you a clue to what the first edition of the NewbieGames Weekly Game is about.
Since Steemit is a perfect platform for innovation, and the #newbieresteemday community is filled with creative people, why not create a contest for people to come up with new ideas for contests that are based on Steem and Steemit related concepts for the community to participate in?
If you have seen some of the competitions, contests and games hosted by more experienced Steemains and want to know how you can also create your own, this is your perfect opportunity to get started!
So think of this as an opportunity to be rewarded for coming up with an idea for your next contest/post, then let @newbiegames be the incubator of contest ideas on Steemit, and the @newbieresteemday community be your potential investors (or Shark Tank/Dragon's Den panel if you prefer - but we are much nicer people here) 😃
Okay, so what are the rules?
A. ELIGIBILTY ✅
- Open to all valid Steemit individual account holders
B. PRIZE 💰
- 100% of the SBD generate from this post, divided equally amongst the winners selected
C. TIMELINE 📅
- 7 days from the time the of the post, with the winners announced in next week's game
D. SUBMISSION PROCESS 🎫
Contestants must submit a link to a post that outlines the rules of their contest in the comments section of this post. The contest must contain information that details pertaining to:
- the eligibility of participants (whether it is open to all Steemians or those that meet a specific criteria)
- the prize/reward on offer for the contest (and how to redeem it)
- the timeline for the contest (when entries close)
- the process for submitting an entry into the contest
- the process for selecting the winner(s) for the contest
E. SELECTING THE WINNER(S) 🏆
The contest MUST NOT be similar in format or concept to others already running on Steemit (to be determined by guest judges @plushzilla and @themanwithnoname). Contestants with valid entries will be judged on the following critera (weighted equally):
- originality of the contest concept
- interest from the community through comments and participation
- collaboration (with other Steemians) or use of resources from Steemit (e.g. @creative-commons images or information about users or data generated from the blockchain).
Up to three winners will be selected for this contest.
Finally...
A good game/contest should be simply to learn, easy to play and gets more complex as you go along (something is probably misquoted but nevertheless applicable here), so good luck and let's see what we can come up with - who knows, it might just be the next hit contest on Steemit!
I thought that by doing this it would get the names of those helpful people into the spotlight so other newbies discover these helpful people and their resources.
Because of the rules of the contest it also gave contestants the chance of being upvoted by other contestants and the chance to win 2 shares in steembasicincome. It may not be that original to offer that as a prize but I feel the originality comes from what the contestants have to do to enter the competition.

Hi @markkennard, thanks for the interest and entry for the contest. I have read articles by people who talk about helpful people that they have come across, but I don't think there's a contest specifically related to it. However, your contest was already running and created before this contest started so it not be valid for judging (see section E).

Hi @steemdiva, I am glad that you have been inspired by this contest to run your won contest :)
However, the rules and format of your contest are very similar to this and others that provide an inspiration and prize to encourage people to create artworks (and therefore not the first as determined by @newbiegames and so will not be considered a valid entry - see section E).
Nevertheless, I think you should definitely put a link in our regular promotional post and see if there are more interest in your contest (if you haven't done so already):

Cool, had to try, I just put in round 9. All rounds have winners. but a round is not a full contest, so I understand.
The Information Finding Championship is really good (and I think it should be promoted further), but I guess since the contest is for coming up with new and original contest ideas that would rule existing contest that have been running already out of it. But I am hoping that this will provide more exposure to it :)
I hope we get an original idea. If we don't get one that qualifies... I say we let anyone that has used #newbieresteemday or #newbiegames tags and that has started a game since this post qualify.
A few people came up with some really great ideas for the superbowl weekend that they are still running as games.
Happy to relax the rules a little bit because there are some great contests/games out there that deserves to be rewarded :) Can you post the link for that contest here so it can be an entry as well?
