NEEDLEWORK MONDAY : A PILLOW FROM PLASTIC WRAPPERS

Greetings fellow steemians, crocheters, crafters and needleworkers! Its monday once again and its time for #needleworkmonday initiated by @crosheille!

My needlework for today is a little bit different from my previous works. My two little men have a project in their day care. Which is a pillow. So i recycled plastic wrappers for stuffing. I collected plastic wrappers and cut it into tiny pieces.

The materials i used are:

  • plastic cover
  • a needle
  • a yarn or a thread
  • a pair of scissors
  • pre-cut plastic wrappers

First I fold the plastic cover, measured the length with the desired size. Then I saw the edges together using a yarn and a needle. Leaving some space for filling in the stuffing. After stuffing it..continue sewing until all the edges are sewn together.

And viola! My recycled pillow!

Thanks for passing by!

Two words: Clever & Cute!!!!

Thanks for sharing this idea! I love it! It’s fun and a nice project for kids to help with!!! Did you purchase the plastic covers or had it around your house?

If you would like to share your work with the community on days other than Monday, please use the #needlework tag (without the word Monday attached)! Thank you ~

oh thank you so much for finding my simple work as clever and cute.. Yeah its really fun for kids cause they will also learn how to reuse waste materials. The plastic cover is a leftover. I bought it last June to cover their notebooks.

Oh yes, if i have something to share on other days..i will only use the tag #needlework only..thanks for the info. Godbless 😊

You’re very welcome! It’s great to know you are enjoying sharing and learning within the community :)

What a great idea, and you know what, we just recently made a chair from wood, but it really needs a neck pillow and I just haven't come up with and idea what to make it from! This might just be the right idea! - I would cover it with fabric though, since I don't like plastic on the skin, but for filling it could be quite good! Now the problem is we don't really eat those small candies, but I guess any plastic wrappings can be used and what a great way to recycle!!

yeah..you can use it for stuffing and cover it with fabric or leatherette..candy wrappers are small..you can use plastics from junk foods like potato chips..or some sachets that is silver in the inside..like from coffee..you can use many kinds..not just candy wrappers..just cut it into pieces..

How interesting... I would never have thought to make a pillow that way.
Clever idea... I love seeing recycled goodie ideas.

Did you clean and wash all those wrappers before shredding them for stuffing?

thanks @poyim..yes i washed all those wrappers to get rid of the ants 😊
