EXTRACTING BEES FROM A LARGE LOG - Part 1

in #nature7 years ago

I knew I was no match for this large wild hive alone, so I called in reinforcements. A team of local beekeepers discussed this project. On the day of the extraction there were two beekeepers, the land owner, two reps from the city and me there on scene. I was available for help, but mostly my role was to record the process for educational purposes.

The Safety Talk and Walk Around

Every good story and adventure starts with character development and a safety talk, right? Well, this episode was just that. The lead beekeeper with the plan started this day out with a good talk about bees and how to be safe around them.

I knew the video would be good! Shared!

Thank you :) The rest of it is going to be a bit harder to edit. There is SO MUCH video! LOL

HMM well maybe it goes to 5 parts, it is the massive amount of content we are looking for ;-)

Great video. Talking will effect the bees they get used to it. I do my videos mostly with out a vale. They do know me. My smell, movements, voice and attitude. These bees have never been worked so they truly don't know you.

It is also advisable to Vail up for someone else's bees. Mostly because you have no Idea how they work them.

Good start, this looks to be something that people who don't know much about bees that want to know more would be interested in! Looking forward to as many parts as it takes to tell this story!

Thanks! I was a fun day. We worked for over 4 hours getting the hive extracted.

It will certainly be interesting to see the process in the future videos!

Fascinating information @daddykirbs. Thanks for posting this one. Excited to see the other parts.

Thanks for uploading this @daddykirbs... really informative and insightful. Now to look for the video where you guys actually get into that log!

Hey @daddykirbs, it is great what you are doing. We need to save our bees.

That is what exactly we are trying to do in Cameroon.
