The Power of Golden Paste

Hello there my fellow Steemians! It's amazing what you learn because of your beloved kronky old dog. Our Sir Maxelot is a rescued ex-racer and he's now 11 years old and riddled with arthritis. He came to us only 3 years ago and totally won us over. He came with a lot of emotional and behavioural baggage because of the cruelty in his past... but while we hoped our love could help ease some of that, we found it really distressing to hear him yelp in pain when he tried to get up or lie down and you could see the struggle behind his movement.

As his naive new owners our first port of call was the local vet, who gave him anti-inflammatory and pain relief for the flare ups but no real advice for day to day management. The pain relief left him totally spaced out and we micro-managed the drops into his food to see if we could find a happy balance. But to me, that wasn't good enough and I didn't want him heavily medicated as that just plays more havoc with the digestive system and the liver.

Being an energy healer and a believer in all things natural, it was time to get Googling and do some research. And a whole new world opened up.

The world of golden paste for arthritis in dogs... and for us humans!

Golden paste is a magical mix of tumeric, organic virgin coconut oil and black pepper. Not only is it a natural and strong anti-inflammatory, but it is a powerful antioxidant, it supports the liver against toxins and has been used to prevent and even treat cancer... and a whole lot more! Many people are now discovering the benefits of tumeric and using it for themselves too. I love that there is a movement away from medication and into an awareness of the power of natural medicine.

Once the Golden Paste is made up, you simply add it to their food, starting with just a 1/4 teaspoon and building up to as much as a dessert spoon a day for large dogs. The taste doesn't seem to bother our Sir Maxelot... despite the strong earthy smell of tumeric!

But what was so amazing to witness, over the first couple of weeks, was his transformation. The yelping stopped and he began to move more freely and even became sprightly! We added the paste into both his morning and evening meals and played the dosage by ear until we felt we'd found the comfortable amount. The reason you don't just start giving a generous spoonful each time is that the tumeric moves quickly through the body so they need time to adjust. Nobody wants runny orange poos... ;)

This is the standard recipe that we use:

3 cups of turmeric powder
6 cups of water
2 cups of organic coconut oil (or 1 cup of coconut oil and 1 cup of bone broth)
3 tablespoons of freshly ground black pepper

And here's how to make it:

Slowly warm the water

Ground the black pepper

Mix the turmeric powder in with the water on a low heat and stir until it begins to get thick

Mix in the coconut oil (and bone broth if using it)

Mix in the ground black pepper

Turn off the heat and continue to stir

Allow the turmeric paste to cool and thicken

Transfer into glass jar

And there you have it!

It's simple, it's effective and it's totally natural.

If you have a dog that is struggling with the pain and discomfort of arthritis, I highly recommend you try this natural remedy! We've also moved him onto grain free kibble as wheat is a contributing factor to arthritis. Golden paste has totally given Sir Maxelot a new lease of life and we are truly thankful to the gifts of Mother Earth for providing us with all we need.

I'd love to hear your experiences of Golden Paste too!

Love,
Sally xx

PS. More photos of Sir Maxelot... because you can never see too many pictures of this gorgeous old soul...

I am a HUGE fan of golden paste and always say to people it would be good for arthritic dogs but they look at me like I'm mad...

Haha @riverflows... it's good to be the 'mad' one sometimes... especially when we know we're not! More people need to know about this magical paste! Keep talking about it! :)

I do haha. I always have talked about natural medicines comma and have always been either thanks for my knowledge or looked as if I was some crazy kind of which. It seems it is either either or lol. What a beautiful dog. My uncle and auntie race greyhounds. Although there is a lot of controversy about it I have never seen such well looked after and loved dogs as the ones that they race. They are definitely The Good Guys.

How refreshing to hear that there are some loved and well looked after greyhounds in racing! We hear all the horror stories but never the happy ones! Your Auntie and Uncle are definitely the Good Guys! xx

Resteemed and upvoted!! I AM glad you discovered the power of turmeric Sally . I have been using it fresh in Costa Rica as it grows there naturally and it is as powerful for us as it is for dogs - one glass of turmeric and ginger tea a day and your whole family are protected and healed from just about everything. Including cancer I make this tea wherever I am in the world these days as my daily elixir for life❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's amazing stuff! My friend once made me tumeric and ginger tea (perhaps with lemon and honey too?) when I wasn't well.. and I literally felt the 'lurgy' lift off me! Tasted wonderful too. Do you just grate the tumeric root and ginger into hot water or heat it all up together from cold? There is an abundance of tumeric here so I think this is a good habit to start! Thank you @sallybeth23! xx

We are testing this as soon as I get more turmeric and find organic coconut oil.

Max, Jake, Maggie and Molly are the most popular dog names.

How interesting! He came to us as Max and although we've 'upgraded' him to Sir Maxelot for fun... he really suits it! :)

Oh that was so nice what you did. And very you know, self reliant I gues... maybe thats not the word but either way I like that you took matters into your own hands, found a natural remedy, made it and tried it!

How wonderful that it works too. Bookmarking your post to try making the paste.

Thanks for sharing this new found wisdom 😁!

Thank you @senorcoconut! It's very easy to make and such a powerful healer. I feel it's really important that we empower ourselves and don't just take the doctors and vets opinions and recommendations as the only answer. Mother Earth gives us everything we need! I hope this helps you or your dogs in some way :)

No dogs yet, but I have plenty of friends with them I can think of. I was kind of thinking about inflamation in my elbows to try it for.

Mother nature sure is full of good things that are healing... look at poison ivy for example, you can usually find a remedy for it near by

I love turmeric. About three months ago I fell and sprained my ankle, and I actually posted on Steemit about the turmeric tea I made, which really seemed to help heal my ankle. Great to hear turmeric can work for dogs too!
