My Top 10 favorite Funk SongssteemCreated with Sketch.

Tonight I had a good surprise in the form of a phone call. I recognized the voice as soon as I picked up the phone, it was my old buddy from Val-d'Or, a city in the north more than a 6 hours drive from Montreal. We hadn't spoke in years so I was happy to hear from him. He has met a girl and works a job he likes: that's the kind of good news you want to hear from a friend! All the more the reason to celebrate since Steemit just hit its one year birthday! More on this at the end...

Since the consensus on Wikipedia is that the Celebration song is not of the Funk genre but more of the Post-disco style, it wouldn't be appropriate in a Funk post... but it would certainly be in a post-Funk post part. So here it is as a celebration of the one year anniversary, as well as one for lost friendships found again, and being posted just in time at approximately midnight at the very end of the b-day (after-party anyone?):

After-Post - Celebration by Kool & the Gang

Noice List!

It's always a difficult job coming up with a top ten...

Where's Maceo??

Pass the peas, pass the peas, pass peas like we use to say...pass the peas...

Whoa, if I had known of that song before posting, it would have easily beaten the entire top ten! That is some serious jam! Thanks for sharing the groove! :-)

what a fantastic post my friend... wooo brought back some memories, good stuff mmm

Half of these songs I'm too young to have heard from their release in my lifetime, and most of them I've discovered playing a game (on Facebook) call SongPop, but I'm glad if I was able to bring back some dear memory for those back in the days who hitted the dance floor to these songs. :-)

Thank you for the nice & funky comment!

This song came very close to making the cut, but is considered Electrofunk (whatever that is).

Comment Song - You Dropped a Bomb on Me by The Gap Band
