A Horror movie that will scare you without any scare jumps/gore : LAKE MUNGO(2008)
Unsettling and Creepy that's how i felt at the end of this movie, or thats how i can define this Australian horror movie.
I'm a big fan of horror movies, i do watch lots of it in this genre and i have to admit that there are very less good horror these days. Most of them have same repeated stories and scare jumps.
But lake mungo succeeds in having a story that is slow yet chilling and characters where you can relate and feel the pain which they're going through.
It's a documentary styled film about the tragic events that takes place in the palmer family. Where the family is through the loss and certain revelations and things makes them much hard to go through the phase.
The less you know about, the much better. That's one of the way to enjoy this movie, trust me its more effective like this. Dont google or watch trialers of it, just do watch it without knowing anything, it will give you chills for sure.
The only downside to this will be slow paced documentary style of it. It almost feels like watching history channel show. The starting 15 mins there's nothing much happening to it but after that there are many things keeps happening, twist and turns.
It's blend of paranormal, found footage and documentary. Which all of its makes a good movie and way better than the cliché ones.
It' a slow paced, which will give you subtle scare vibes, which slowly gets under your skin and mind.
There are few twists in this movie which will make you "wtf" and also " Damn thats wasted" but if you keep through till the final credits, it will prove as worthy.
It's very underrated and unsettling movie. If you want to get creepy vibes then watch it only during the night time.
I also love horror movies, especially unfamiliar once and this one is one of my favorites! excellent with a surprise ending. This movie is a total must. Also, the best horror movies are usually not Americans. With the babadook, it seems that Australia is building itself as a horror empire.
Oh yes, there are best horror outside the hollywood ones but sadly they dont get exposure which they deserve. Have you watched " The wailiing(2016)" Its a must watch too.
Since you're also a horror fan :D we should exchange the list of movies, i came across few good ones lately.
And do recommend me some
No I haven't watched The wailiing, Asian horror movies are usually too scary for me. I have a limit. I really liked A Dark Song, it's an Irish horror movie and with a really surprising ending as well.
Haha yeah, sometimes they're too scary but don't miss the wailing.
WIll add that irish movie on my list. Thanks :)
