Who's Leading The Box Office This Weekend?

in #movies7 years ago (edited)

Hello movie marauders! Want to see what is dominating the Box Office this weekend (July 7-9)?? Read below the Top 7 Movies in the Box Office [Click the blue links to watch the trailer for each movie!!]:

7.  The House-$4.8 Million

This comedy came out June 30 and stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler. I am not surprised that The House did not do so well because it is not very well-known. It got an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes (comedy movies don't usually get a high score). The plot is that Scott (Ferrell) and Kate (Poehler) must find a way to pay for their daughter's college because her scholarship fell through. They start an underground casino with their neighbor, Frank ( Jason Mantzoukas). I haven't watched this movie yet, and I'm definitely not going out of my way to watch it.

6. Cars 3-$5.6 Million

Everyone loves Pixar, so when another Cars movie came out everyone is going to watch it. This film came out June 16, and is definitely not about secret agent Mater. I have not seen this movie because of how bad the sequel was. Also, I am not a big fan of the Cars franchise. Cars 3 got a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes (Remember: Rotten Tomatoes is not always right) compared to Cars 1 at 74%. I haven't heard great things about Cars 3, and I heard it was a little sad.

5. Transformers: The Last Knight-$6.3 Million

Are you thinking: Seriously, another Transformers movie? Transformers: The Last Knight is the 5th film in the franchise, and got a rotten score of 15%. It is an astounding 3 hours and 9 minutes long!! I feel like the Transformers movies are bleh quality and their is no real point to make them.

4. Wonder Woman-$10.1 Million

Wonder Woman was released June 2, but it is number 4 in the Box Office!! I loved this movie, and it is definitely on my top 5 list of favorite superhero films. I am not surprised it is still in the top 5 of the box office since it truly is an amazing film. The performances and action sequences were amazing. If you haven't seen Wonder Woman yet, I highly recommend watching it!!

3. Baby Driver-$12.8 Million

Everyone is raving about Baby Driver. It came out June 28, and has a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score. I really want to see it, but I will probably end up waiting for it to be rentable. This movie has great music in it, and stars Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx. It makes sense to be in the top 3 because it is edgy and modern.

2. Despicable Me 3-$34 Million

Despicable Me is a great trilogy (not the Minions movie). Despicable Me 3 came out June 30, and has a score of 62% compared to Despicable Me 1 at 81% and Despicable Me 2 at 73%. It seems like as the trilogy goes on, the score becomes worse and worse. Despicable Me 3 features Gru's brother, Dru (who persuades him to take down Balthazar Bratt- who wants revenge on the world). They are both voiced by Steve Carell.

1. Spider-Man: Homecoming-$117 Million

Surprised Spider-Man: Homecoming is #1? I am definitely not! Spider-Man: Homecoming (released June 7) was the best Spider-Man film. It got a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, is the 7th best Marvel Studios opening, is the best ever MCU solo movie debut, and only Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Beauty and the Beast made more this year. There are many aspects that make it better, such as a younger version of Peter Parker and his motivation to become an Avenger. This movie has a John Hughes' vibe, and has great action/comedy. You may not want to watch another Spider-Man remake, but this truly is the best one yet. Spider-Man will be getting 2 more movies, and will appear in Avengers: Infinity War-which will release May 4, 2018.
