Life is Precious

Yesterday I watched a sci-fi movie, “In Time,” which was very interesting.

The movie was set in the future world, when all people live to 25 years old, will stay at that age forever, and also start a countdown for a year.

Everyone spares no effort to earn time, to make more time for themselves, and when the time reaches zero, they will die immediately.

We always say that time is money, but never really value the words.

In the movie, time is not only represented money but also represents life. Everyone is desperately staying alive for that two hours; every slack will lead them to death.

In a fictional way, the movie shows us the timeless truth of "time is money."

The movie impressed me the most is running.

The protagonist, Will, because of get up late in the morning, and have to run to work; his mother because unable to pay for transportation, can only run back home, when the time reaches zero, she fell into her son's arm; at the end of the movie, the protagonists run to the police car to add more time ...

Why are they running?

Because they don't have enough time, if they don’t run to buy time, what's wait for them is death.

With death threats they always seem to cherish time, because they have no choice.

But we are not the same; we have choices. Although we always say that we will work hard, will not waste time, in fact, because we have choices, we who cherish the time is really a minority.

We may have made a schedule with confidence, learn a foreign language in the morning, read books in the afternoon, and practice writing between the time. But you get up late at 12 o'clock afternoon and thought: It is too late the carry out the plan in the morning, just rest today and start tomorrow.

So cheerfully turn on the computer and play PUBG; get tired of the game and then surf Facebook, and the day passed.

You might lie in bed at night can’t sleep, and regret that you have wasted a day. But it is night; it is too late, can only work hard tomorrow, then sleep peacefully.

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, you continue to waste time, there is always a day, time will leave you deserted.

I think it is worth us to delve into the movie for using 25 years old as the demarcation point.

25 is one of the best ages of life, at this time you are out of campus, two to three years in the society. Continue to maintain the naïve and momentum when out of the campus, or grind by the society, followed by the majority of people with a nine to five job, holding the phone at night, all day, confused and overwhelmed.

The movie stipulates that 25-year-olds must be busy and try their best to live. Otherwise they can only watch the time return to zero, under the sunny day, suddenly fell on the street.

But in real life no one will force you, standing on the road of more than 20-year-old life, we face a lot of choices: struggle or ease, study or surf Facebook, learn or play games, cherish time or waste time.

So many choices, we can only rely on ourselves to decide, it is worth noting that for us to make these decisions for the age of more than 20, the next 30 and even our entire life.

I also think that the protagonist's "One Day philosophy" thought is very interesting.

In the second half of the movie, the protagonists were robbing the time Bank, but they only recharge their own time with just one day.

Will said: "I only need one day, one day can do a lot of things."

Even though Will almost died later, he still kept the habit.

For me "One day philosophy" is not to give yourself too much time when doing something, too much time is a waste.

In an interesting example, a university professor assigned the same essay assignment to two groups of students of the same standard. He gave a group of students a week, while the other group of students had only eight hours to complete the task.

The final result is that even if the first group of students has enough time to research, complete the paper, the quality of the paper is not better than the second group of students, or even a little worse.

Because too much time will make you paralyzed, lack of tension, and so when the time limit is getting closer, it will make you more rush, the quality of the completion is also worse.

So we have to treat every day of our lives as if it is our last day, exert pressure on ourselves and chase time.

Life won't give us too much time; we need to run to catch up with our own life.

Hey, I find especially the last part of your post super interesting! I've felt this was the case for myself so many times, but didn't know there was actual evidence for the phenomenon. Working under pressure makes me more productive as there is just no time to overthink every tiny decision that there is to make! There is also a book - 'Blink' by Malcom Gladwell - which focuses on unconscious decision-making and how it can be better in certain situations in life!

This is one of my favorite movies... not only am I a huge JT fan but I too value the story line. I think it also shows how we are all controlled. The rich get richer and there is no care for "lower society". When I hear stories about people getting chipped, it also makes me think of this movie... is it all part of the big "control plan"? We're all made to feel as if we have freedom and choice... but do we?
