REWARD YOURSELF(2018)

Happy new year friends, How was the celebrations or are you still celebrating xD?
Just like every other new year, I spent some time thinking about my new year resolutions and all the things I didn't accomplish last year. as I wrote down my shortcomings and goals, I said to myself; "why don't I write a different list of things I accomplished," surely 2017 wasn't a total failure... Looking at the bigger picture I realized that I achieved quite a lot.
If I didn't take a moment to write them down, those milestones would have gone unnoticed.

Sometimes it's easy to focus on the "should've" or "would've". Being self-aware about our shortcomings can also be helpful to our development, but it doesn't take much to gradually steep into a negative bias while forgetting about the times we actually did something good.
Life is already complicated as it is. It's hard enough trying to maneuver the hurdles, maybe you deserve a pat on the back for making it this far, and if others don't see it, you better recognize it and reward yourself.
That's why I came up with this theme for the new year, feel free to use it 😃.

POSITIVE REINFORCEMTNT

Positive reinforcement is when you reward a desirable behavior or action, We use this method when we train our pets by giving treats, It's also seen when your boss gives you a bonus or raise for doing a good job.
There are scientific studies on how positive reinforcement can encourage a behavior or action.
There are also various disciplines in life, some people employ negative reinforcement which is the opposite of positive reinforcement, there are claims that it works for motivation but I believe for a healthy overall lifestyle it's better to encourage and focus on our positive traits.

REWARDING YOURSELF

There are several ways to reward yourself, just as we blame ourselves and feel bad for underachieving, we can also reward ourselves for success no matter how little or small it is.
I remember one of my course-mates that would always get hyper each time he achieved something in class, at first many saw him as being loud or obnoxious, but it didn't take long before people were struggling to pair with him in study groups or projects because he brought a positive/fun attitude to a rather boring subject.

The truth of the matter is nobody knows you better than yourself, you know those things that make you happy, whenever you achieve something positive, treat yourself with something you love, It doesn't have to be extravagant, maybe it's your favorite food, show or spa.
