The tip of a simple old school pen from a macro tryout is what I have for you guys today. Took this shot with the 18-55 kit lens in combination with all three macro extension tubes I have, mounted on the little tri-pod and remote shutter control. Due to the tubes I had to use MF but that's no problem in a static set-up like this. I made quite some Macro shots in this set-up but most are already deleted at the moment as they came out mweh..
What can we do with a pen, indeed write some original quality posts for steemit :D

Have an amazing day!

This is awesome shot.
I bought extension tubes recently and I am still struggling to make descent macro photos.
Like you said they came out mweh...

To be honest this was the first time I used all the extensions together and got some decent shots, had to use Manual focus, with just the small ones I can still use AF, and I used the remote shutter control so no movement on the camera a for clicking. What i have learned is use an external light source, I used a small led flash light for this shot. And use the lens in max zoom and put the lens close to the object.
But still most shots....mweh, think I have to start saving up for a real macro lens :D

It is a good tip to use external light and remote shutter.
I tried various combinations with the tubes mainly outside. I had to change to manual focus too as it was pain in the neck with the automatic sometimes, especially with the whole set of three. But I am stubborn and I will continue to struggle with these extension tubes. LOL

Nice Macro @tijntje !TRDO

i've got three, too - once used 1, got no result, and put them away! heh

just recently, I get them back, and mounted all 3 - only AFTER that, i've got.... some... magnification... at least it was a bit progress.

but I concider, the progress into the land of 'decent macro is somewhere about using the stacking technology. have you heard about it? check some @johannpiber shroom pics, for example.

oh, and I really came here to share the recent pic i've stalked upon. b-w, as it should be! not even the slightest hint that it could or should be in colour, hehe

Thanks for sharing that pic @qwerrie. And indeed I can imagine that this shot had to be made mono.
I am well aware off all the beautiful shots from Johann. His macro and not to forget his great scenery shots.
I will keep playing with these tubes in combination with the tri-pod and some external light sources. So keep an eye out for more to come, will do some macro shooting this evening when I am home alone.
