Would You Buy "Finney" Blockchain Smartphone?

in #mobile6 years ago (edited)

Blockchain is certainly becoming the number one buzz word in the technology space today. It was only a matter of time before someone built a phone that is gear towards the growing number of cryptocurrency users.

It's great nevertheless that Sirin Labs have built the "Finney." Touted as the blockchain smartphone it uses Sirin OS which is a fork of the Androd OS and offers an array of security features as well.

SIRIN OS offers certain features on this phone

  1. Built-in cold storage wallet
  2. Decentralized Application center (dCENTER)
  3. Learn & Earn Incentivized Education
  4. Token Conversion Service

Some of the cyber protection features include the following

  1. Behavioural based Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
  2. Blockchain based, full tampering proof
  3. Physical security switch (for wallet protection)
  4. Secured communications (VoIP, text, email)
  5. Three-Factor authentication: Biometric, Lock Pattern, Behavioural

It also offers a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for the selfie enthusiasts. While most cyber security fanatics consider iOS over Android, I wonder what they have to say about this phone. It would be great to read some reviews of this phone from cyber security experts eh?

Overall I think it looks decent. No awards for the design as we have better looking phones in the market but some of the features seem pretty cool.

The company also offers a discount if you purchase using their native token SRN. I'm not sure how valuable the token will be in the years to come but today anyone can make a token easily. Nevertheless it's great that a new company is innovating in this space offering something unique to the cryptocurrency enthusiasts of the world.

It's offered in two colors and you can purchase it from their website here!. But the real question is would anyone here buy this phone? Does it meet your requirements for a phone as a cryptocurrency user?

I am waiting for the time when the established companies like Apple and Samsung will enter into this space. Then we can purchase the phone with more trust.

Myriad number of things showing up every day! Really great our world moves this way. Meanwhile, I wonder what happened to the so called future currency-initiativeq. A couple of months back it was the main talk here!

new smartphone with many valuable features phone for a cryptocurrency user.
thanks firepower sir for sharing about new Smartphone in your post .

This is sirin labs technology, a combination of in built wallet plus a token called SRN. If not due to the fact that cryptocurrency market is down, a lot of people should be dabbling into this project by now. For me I don't think it is advisable to get the phone, rather I would invest in the tokens.

I think the idea of this smartphone is good but SRN team is more concentrated on Messi as their ambassador than research and development. I suppose a lot of money is spent for Messi. Unfortunaltelly the presentation of product was very dissapointing for the investors and We can see this actually in the price of the token. They should definitelly make some presentation of SRN smartphone functionality.

I’d consider getting it. I like the cold storage option and emphasis on security. It’s a little expensive though. If it were $300 I’d probably get it this Christmas as a present to myself. :)

I did some research on it when they got finding via there ICO and I think its a cool project especially for us who are too lazy to get cold storage and are still using hot wallets on our smartphones.

I'm just wondering if its only a matter of time before traditional smartphone makers also adopt these features

I don't think, it is not a deal for mass adoption. I am looking forward to Xphone by PundiX , I think that is more capable than this piece by SRN labs.

I am too cautious to buy a cold storage of $1000. I think it is a very unfair deal, as dApps have still a long way to go .
