Disc Golf and Beer Review #2 ~ #minnowuprising + BONUS Wildlife & Nature!

Another day, another round of disc. This round we try out Southern Tier's 8 Days a Week Blonde Ale. Here's what they have to say about it:

The only way to describe this beer is Infinitely Drinkable. This is smooth liquid refreshment with a hint of Centennial hops for fruity notes and low bitterness for an easy finish. Available on draught and in 8 packs of 12oz cans, yep that’s right 8 cans, because when a beer is Infinitely Drinkable, six just isn’t enough!

Seeing that it was a fairly hot day, this Blonde Ale quenched my thirst much better than an IPA or heavier beer would have. It is most definitely "infinitely drinkable", as they describe it as such, because it is so light. The question then becomes, would you want to?

I actually don't mind a light beer on a hot and humid summers day. It is refreshing and takes the edge of the heat off. But if I had my choice of this Blonde Ale, or something like a Corona or even a Budweiser, I would probably go with the latter. Again, not a bad beer and I didn't hate it, just didn't do enough for me to buy it again. It is light enough to drink and has a decent mouthfeel for such a light beer, but the finish and the bitterness (for a light beer) was a little heavy handed in my opinion.

When I drink a light beer, I want to feel like I'm on the beach soaking up the sun, or cooling down after mowing the lawn. This beer just didn't put me in that place.

What a treat I was in for this go around! My play compared to the last round was terrible. It felt like every tree was growing instant limbs to knock my disc down to earth. Bogey here, double bogey there, it wasn't looking pretty. I was fortunate enough to birdie the one hole you should birdie, so that was a plus. I also didn't lose a disc to the water or woods, which is always a good thing.

But besides my crap-tastic throwing for the day, I got to lay eyes on two beautiful Mallard ducks and their ducklings.

The male is on the right in this picture, the more decoratively colored bird. I was lucky enough to catch the female mid-flap while she was exposing her colorful feathers underneath that I had never seen before. The little ducklings all stayed pretty close to mom and dad and would swim away from shore every time I got near.

Not only wildlife this round though, mother nature wanted to show off a little too, in the form of mushrooms! Common Ink Cap, or Inky Cap mushrooms to be exact.

Sometime's referred to as Tippler's Bane which stems from them being edible, but poisonous when consumed with alcohol. Good thing I didn't try any whilst sipping on my Blonde Ale.

It's uncommon that on a day where I throw poorly, that I don't even have one pretty good shot, and today was no exception. My shot of the day came on hole #4, which coincidentally tees off from behind that small pond where the ducks were. I did manage to snipe a tree on my tee off, but amazingly it kicked out just over the pond into the fair way.

If I was any farther away, I probably would have used my fair way driver, but at this distance I like to use my Wolf disc by Innova. I have great accuracy with it and it's really stable if I want it to be. I aimed a little right and let my natural hook do what it does. Not too much because the Wolf doesn't like to bend like crazy, but it UFO'd down a little bit and then sunk almost straight down behind the basket.

Set me up for a gimme par, which is better than I could say for every other hole. Overall, not my best day on the course, but even the worst day on the course beats the best day at the office :)

I stopped keeping score after my double bogey, no point on keeping that +# in my head bringing me down all round, so I just enjoyed the solitude and sunshine. The 8 Days a Week Blonde Ale, while refreshing on a hot day, didn't do it for me, so it gets 3 out of 5 STEEMS.

By far one of the best most informative posts i've seen here on steemit. Thanks for the post. Of course i'm a little biased, I absolutely love disc golf/nature so i got a really nice feeling reading about your experience here. I hope one day soon i'll get to visit this course and all it's natural beauty.

Wow, thanks so much. MN isn't too far from OK ;) Let me know if you're ever up this way and we can go for a round...or 2, or 3.

Yeah that sounds great! I'll let you know, i do travel quite a bit for Ultimate Frisbee Tournaments so i'll definitely keep an eye out for one in your direction!

A girl I went to HS with, and now her husband who we also went to HS with, are really big into ultimate up here and they apparently won nationals or something big like that last year. If I had the same endurance I had in my teens, I would love to play. But I think disc'n is more my speed nowadays.

Great post! I LOVE the pictures of the ducks on the driftwood... HOW COOL!

I would post that one with the female flapping her wings on steepshot!

Thanks man, it's hit or miss if the ducks are going to be there or not. The last time I went they were there again and the little ducklings weren't so little anymore. I'll crop that photo and get it on Steepshot for sure, thanks for the recommendation. The colors are really cool on her wings.

This is my kind of post! Beer and Disc Golf! It reminds me that I need to write about both of these things a bit because it is where I have a lot of interest!

Yeah buddy! After reflecting on a picture of the beer sitting on the post, I figured why not combine two of the things I love most? I've got a stock pile for July, so buckle up!

You're a real photographer and great green photos
Very beautiful!!!!!!!

thanks for sharing your great story

Thanks, but your comments lack substance. Some people will see this as spam. I won't flag you for it, but be warned others may not be so nice :)
