Can you become someone's Punching Bag

Few days ago I met up a friend we were doing our chit chat. I knew he had taken Sabbatical for a while and was working on Self Development. On checking his latest developments he mentioned he is starting with this concept of being a Punching Bag. When I heard of this it sounded very interesting thing as being a Punching Bag for someone.

So let me tell you what exactly is this job all about.

In today's time and age there are many many people who are extremely stressed out, lonely, depressed. Even people with families are going through this situation, they have their loved ones around but for whatever reason they are not able to express themselves out to them. Loneliness is seeping into many people's lives. Even the most busiest person who lacks time is feeling lonely from within, because the person is not able to express and share his/her feelings to anyone. Sometimes the position, status takes up the person to a level where they feel completely cut off from the rest and not able to share their true feelings. Sometime they need to pretend leaving their true self behind. A lot of people are living fake lives. Life where they bury their true self within and pretend to be someone they are not.
But then these lifestyles are not sustainable, somewhere or the other along the way they feel frustrated of living this artificial life and they need a support system or someone to who they can share their true feelings.
So this friend of mine is going to be that Support system to who they can come and share whatever they want. Their guilty behavior, or their buried feelings, or their frustrations, or whatever they are holding within them which is suffocating them in their day to day life. And the major benefit of this will be he will listen to the person without being judgmental.

We have all gone through this, whenever we have a situation in life when we talk to someone we feel light and relieved we feel good after sharing it with someone. Not every time we are able to express our self to our dear ones due to whatever reasons. We do not want to see them worried with our own worries so we may not want to share it with them, but in the bargain it keeps building within making one feel restless and if this goes on for a longer period of time it can also lead to stress, anxiety and depression issues which later will bring in all the possible health problems.
So it is always good to share it out. So if you know that there is someone out there who will listen to you without making any sort of judgments towards your behavior and not categorizing you in any right and wrong bucket it would be so nice.
I know a counselor may also do the same, but there are times when you just do not want any advice, you only want to share, so this is how the Punching Bag job differentiates. Just listen without making any judgments, make the person feel wanted, make the person feel important without forming any opinions, without giving any advice.

Sometimes I think we make life so complicated and at the same time we can also so easily simplify.
Many people may be doing this work of Punching Bag, those people specially who are good in listening can do this job excellently. Cause all that you need to do is listen to the person, if you have the listening skills it would be an apt profession for you.

I wish my friend succeeds in the new role of his life and can make difference to as many people around.

WELL, I am already a Punching Bag for my wife, LOL :) By the way I am very good listener as well !

Haha...that's what most of the husbands feel like but I know how conveniently they ignore, just with the wives the listening skills become zero :-)
