WHAT IS THE MEDIA?

What is media? To me media is a way of connecting people, creating an understanding of what happens in the world we live in by opening up our minds to things we otherwise would never see, but because media is so large there are multiple ways people perceive a media text. A media text could be perceived negatively or positively. As a media student, we must look at media more critically, we can do this by researching, reading and reflecting on the media we look at. Doing this we can see multiple opinions that can alter our final thoughts.

if i could make my dream film I would make a short film called poor mans poetry that is based around a soundtrack EP I made this year called Poor Mans Poetry (https://soundcloud.com/leroyos/sets/rap-poor-mans-poetry-ap) this soundtrack focuses on the vices that youths in this day and age have such as relationships, leading a generation, fear, racism & media. The project focuses on these issues from the point of view from a few different young people who go through some of the issues. The actors that would feature in my film would be the people who performed the spoken words in the soundtrack because I believe they are the people who will be able to portray the feelings they felt when they created the poems the best. The vices they have would be played by a dark figure that stands in the corner of the room as they perform their pieces. I believe the genre will come under indie because it approaches film in a different way to the films that are released currently. The films that are out currently do appeal to me but as a creator I would like to be a pioneer and be able to change the way future film makers make films and people view these films.
