Most couples don’t understand what major life crisis is all about. Major life crisis is when you allow your children to come in between yourself and your spouse. You need to always remember that at some point, these children will go and live their lives and you both will be back to how you started. If the communication has been affected then it would be a real struggle to pick it back up when the children are no longer there with you.
Never allow your children to come in between your spouse and yourself. A lot of couples switch attention to their children and grow distant with their spouse. That is a major life crisis because the time will come for your children to move on, so how would you be able to mend the bridges with your spouse, with the water that has gone under the bridge? When that time comes, the hurts you have harboured, the things you have overlooked and the things he or she did at one point or the other will come to remembrance and you will see yourself fighting more with him or her than you have ever done before. You grow tired of the constant fights and bickering and you will start thinking of divorce while leaving your children confused as to what happened after all these years?
Don’t use your children as a get-away to ignore issues you feel should be addressed and don’t pour out all your love on your children; forgetting the lover of your youth. You were together before them and when they leave, you will be back to being alone in the house with your spouse. This mid-life crisis can be avoided.
