Thirty-Two Days

in #life5 years ago (edited)

Oh, boy...what a week!

I will be late posting this, even if I get it written. It’s the right post for the thirty-two day point on the countdown, but will probably show up on day twenty-nine. Or something like that.

The up-side to all this craziness is that I am moving dogs, getting them out of rescue and into homes. This is a critical step of my preparation to spend the next six months (minimum) in Europe. It’s just all happening fast now, and while that is wonderful, it’s also hectic!

Just Pretend You’re Reading This on July 19

Colleena (@arrelaine13) and I left early this morning headed to Molly’s Place in Mechanicsburg PA. My rescue has worked with Molly’s Place for years, since I first organized it. Hundreds of dogs transferred and not a single bad experience. If you live in the central or southern region of Pennsylvania and are looking for a new furry family member to adopt, I cannot recommend this agency highly enough.

Four of the dogs on board -- Mocha, Dellie, Bandit, and Chloe -- were accepted by Molly’s Place and ready for intake. They’re the four who got health certificates a few days earlier; you can read about that here. On arrival, they were scared but behaved themselves well. I feel that with their personalities and cuteness, they will find homes very soon. Here are their pictures, so you can see those sweet little faces one more time.

Three other dogs on board were just there for evaluation. Like the small dogs, they were scared, too, but walked on leashes and interacted just fine so that Lori Johnston, owner and manager of Molly’s Place, felt comfortable scheduling them for intake in the next few weeks. We’re waiting to nail down the date, but once they’re transferred, this will take care of the “difficult” dogs we’d struggled to place.

We have only two left needing permanent homes, and our Vermont rescue partner has posted both of them on their website. We hope to hear about applications pouring in. So if you live in southeast Canada or in New England and you’re looking for a forever fur friend, give FTLD a call or drop them an email. They are GREAT to work with, and I can personally vouch for these two dogs!

See “Ketsia”(Doberman) and “Roxie”(chihuahua) here. Scroll to the bottom, because they are newly added and won’t appear near the top.

Transfer accomplished, we headed home with expectations of being snug in our beds by midnight. Alas--this was not to happen. Because three hours down the road, things got really interesting.
...to be continued....
