Getting inspiration for Steemit

in #life6 years ago (edited)

You know that you are a Steemit addict when everything that happens in your life and start drafting a post and thinking about the format and presentation.

You get inspiration from the conversations you have, the situations that you encounter as you go on by your day. that picture perfect sunset while you are enjoying a great cup of coffee. Everything becomes part of your creative process and inspires you to translate experiences into words and shared with your audience.

Taking a cue from my profile I have categorized what I like writing about.

Philosophical and Mundane Musings

I am a Philosophy major and to those that I get to interact in the various Discord Channels might find it hard to believe. The early part of my Steemit life I had written about some of my philosophical musings but of course, since I didn't have any followers then it went unread.

Mostly now I think about the various things that I observe in Steemit and how it affects me and the communities I belong to. From engagement, quality, guides to new Steemians and I even run contests from time to time in order to get to know new people.

Contests are a good way to see how people think. What their motivations and wants are. It gives us a glimpse of who they are or at least the persona they are projecting here.

Foodie

I started out with a couple of #foodphotography and the #dailyfoodphotography by @howtostartablog
I even got my first SBD through being featured and winning one of the days I submitted one. The feeling is very nice and got a boost in confidence because of winning something.

Whenever we have new people starting out I recommend joining his #dailyfoodphotography to get that inspiration that somebody checked my post and if possible win a prize.

Food photography is always something interesting especially if given the right angle, lighting and color enhancement to make it pop. So please give it a little bit more effort.

Gamer

I have been slacking off on this. I have in my 5 months in Steemit only reviewed one game. I have been trying to upload to dTube and even attempted once an Overwatch quick game I was running but to no avail.

I was told to join the discord server for dTube to help me with troubleshooting but honestly, I haven't been able to play a lot of games because most of my free time I use it to read in Steemit. There are just so many interesting posts out there.

I have listed it down as several of my posts in the upcoming months.

Bookworm

Even with my advance Steemit Addiction, I am still able to finish one book every onetwo weeks. Easier on the budget but I feel like slacking off. A well-read mind is one that constantly learns and process new information. experiences and knowledge. It does just increase your vocabulary but aids in comprehension and enriching how you view life.

I mostly read Leadership, Human Resources, Cookbooks (I love cooking) Comics, Manga, and of course fantasy and science fiction. I am full geek mode in the areas that interest me.

I had initially intended to write some book reviews from time to time especially after I finish reading a book but it always gets pushed downwards for other topics.

Maybe one day I will write a review.

HR and Leadership

This is my bread and butter. This is what I actually do for a living and we are best to write about things that we are familiar with. The good thing about these things is I can tie it in with helping build communities.

I have written a number of series about how Simon Sinek has changed my whole outlook on treating people. This humanization of running businesses and leading people to become better versions of themselves is the main core of the why leaders eat last philosophy of Simon.

Steemit being a social platform we need to treat each one as real human beings that need guidance, compassion, empathy and, recognition for being awesome human beings. When we genuinely care and create deep meaningful connections with people that we end up becoming the most awesome versions of us. Together we are better.

So those are some of the things that I draw inspiration from and write about. @spiritualmax and the rest of the Crypto Empire at one point had discussed this question before. Would it be better if we stick to certain niches and do not deviate from what our followers expect us to write about or is it okay to write whatever topic comes to mind?

What do you think?

If all else fail and you don't know what to write about I highly suggest @spiritualmax STEEM Blog Post Ideas: The ULTIMATE Monthly Blueprint This is one of the best guides out there to help you plan your topics for a whole month!

If you are not following him yet, do yourself a favor and click on his name and follow. This is your yardstick if you want to be successful in Steemit.

For sure, inspiration comes from all angles! It's good to have various interests and see how you go writing about each. I've been writing more about books lately and funnily enough did one on Simon Sinek last week!

Ooohhh really he is so amazing! I like love to have him in this Platform!

I better check that post of yours!

Yeah, we need to get him over here! ;)
My article was based on his book Start With Why and includes a video of his famous TED Talk as well as another viral clip talking about millenials. Here it is: https://steemit.com/bookbabble/@adambarratt/book-babble-7-my-take-on-start-with-why-by-simon-sinek

Oh man missed the pay out on that one by one day! Great article and congratulations on the curie vote!

You have just gained another fan! Looking forward to the next book then.

It's nice to hear about what interests you @maverickinvictus.

I found your post about HR and Leadership very inspiring. That was what drew me towards you but as a follower I think it depends how to connect with the author. I don't have many followers and I find, at the moment, people will come and go. I dont think I have peoples interest that much.

I think the benefit I have is that I have series. If somebody likes one, they can easily scan back through my blog and read a lot. My knowledge blasts, for example, go right back for a couple of months! That's a lot of reading if someone likes it.

It pays to be diverse I think. If someone wants to unfollow because they hate what I've posted that is fair. But if they enjoyed another series and they had to leave because of a different one, I just think that is silly.

(Unless I have some very conflicting beliefs to their own, that makes sense)

Nice read mate and it's great to hear you like philosophy. I have been picking uop Seneca's, Letters from a Stoic every now and then. It really puts some elements of life into perspective.

Good points mate. Indeed we attract certain followers on certain topics that we do. I gotta check your knowledge blasts then.
There are advantages and disadvantages of being diverse. I have over a 1000 followers but not everyone interacts with me.
Philosophy has changed my outlook in life.

this is just what i need , haha, sir mavs , i just posted earlier about my brain status like i can't think of anything to write haha, so injust wrote down what i had in mind

Well, i expected you are a gamer, ofcourse your nature of work , you are pilosopo, ay mali! philosophy major paley , pero daig mo ko dun sa nakakatapos ka ng book , parang ate ko lang , hanga ako sa inyo , nung student ako , nun lang ata ako nakakatapos ng books , hahaha

❤️❤️❤️ @maverickinvictus

Lol natawa naman ako sa pilosopo :p hshaha kahit bata ako mahilig na ako magbasa ng libro.

Steemit being a social platform we need to treat each one as real human beings that need guidance, compassion, empathy and, recognition for being awesome human beings. I always admire your philosophy in life boss mav. :)

Thanks Sheng! I appreciate your kind words.

I like to write about whatever I feel like writing. I am not good at forcing myself. I don't know how it affects my followers desire to keep following me, but this is who I am :)
Awesome that you can read books and still bring your all to Steemit, I don't read as much as I used to, I was such a bookworm. But that went away as the parenting exhaustion kicked in, I find if I pick up a book and try to read I fall asleep! Except for gardening books. Still love reading those :)

Hehehe it's all about discipline and mulit tasking. But honestly I don't think I can read or have the energy to do half of the things you do with a couple of kids that you run around with.

HR- steemit mentor/blogger-hardcor gamer.. wow, your a very busy "bibliophile" @maverickinvictus

Nice to know that word. Indeed, reading is learning :D

Indeed it is fuel to my creativity.

stop sucking up to Maxy. Buahaha

Free the nipple! whoops wrong movement. Ahahha I am not sucking up to Max hahahaha

I meant suck up because you keep mentioning him in your posts. :p

Hahahahaha I'm a stalker! Hahaha I don't in all post :p

emmmm errrr yaaaaa a Maxy-stalker buaahahahahah

Your intro hit me! 😂
Since I am new into this, I can't really avoid checking my blog everyday. Haha plus, everyday, I always think what I am going to post. But I'm doing my very best to make sure that the topics I'm going to post are interesting and has a quality. I am here because I wanted to inspire other people, especially to the new ones like me. Thank you @maverickinvictus for being one of those individual who helped us and continued helping us to improved more into this kind of platform. 😊

Thanks hahahaha Steemit has changed my life and the way I behave creatively.

Choosing a topic that is interesting is subjective but I think what's most important is it is interesting to you. It's easier when you dont force it.

I hope to see you grow and inspire more people.

Slacking off on playing games... Tsk tsk tsk...
Hahaha! Just kidding.
You are a superb writer Mavs!
I believe you can write about anything.
Keep on inspiring us! 👍

Continue making us laugh with your comics!!

Oooh! I love to, chief!
Thanks! 😁

So you're a philosophy major... hmm that explains a lot of stuff.

Plus, you're a gamer... but what do you play?

lol I thought you would not believe me. I'm a huge Skyrim fan. I've played almost all the versions and add ons except I havent played it in VR mode.
Online I play PUBG, Overwatch even if I a am a feeder as FPS is not really my niche. I used to play competitively for Starcraft and League of Legend.

DOTA2 is better _:D

Bwahaha no it's not :p
