Today Is The Day I Move Back To Playa Del Carmen Mexico
Today is the day I move to Mexico. Got my ticket and heading to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to live.
I'm looking forward to the warm weather and soaking in the womb temperature water, eating some real tacos and sipping a cold drink in my hand with my toes in the sand.
Spring break is just beginning there so it will be a little crazy for a few weeks but I'll get through it somehow.
I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures and make some new posts.
If I don't respond to comments for the next day or two it's because I'm en route, but as soon as I'm plugged in I'll respond back.
Look forward to this new adventure.

Very cool. I've been thinking more and more about getting out of the U.S.
I lived in Mexico for 10 years. Moved back to the US for 3 and have had enough. Mexico is awesome and way more affordable to live in. Great place to live.
I'm with @lukestokes but hubby shies away from Mexico like it's got the plague. I keep trying to tell him there's a growing number of expatriates! Will I be one of them? Not without hubby. We're a package deal. LOL
Ahhh, that's sweet. Mexico is a great place to live especially on the Yucatan side. It's got everything you can find in the U.S. Stores like Costco, Starbucks, Home Depot, etc. just no Taco Bell.
HAHA! OMG Taco Bell... that's got to be as blasphemous in Mexico as instant mashed potatoes to an Irishman.
I have been all over the country. They have every US fast food chain you can think of, but Taco Bell would never fly there. Street tacos are cheap, plentiful and absolutely delicious.
I always look for the ones with a crowd of Mexicans around it. Those are the best deals. When I travel around Mexico and I'm in a city or town I'm unfamiliar with, I look for the restaurants that are packed with Mexicans. Those are the best food and the best prices in town. The locals know and if you follow your nose they are easy to find.
Playa, where I'm going, has about 500 restaurants there from every culture with chefs from around the world. A food lovers delight for sure. We should have a Steemit meet up there one day.
How does getting residency work?
I have a permanent residency card which does not expire which you can get after working there for 6 years. First, you have to get an FM-3, then after a few years an FM-2 card, both are basically work permits.
Of course, you need a job or can prove you make $1200 a month, or you have a business, and a visa and passport. Here's a simple guide that explains it better
I was there a few years ago. If I make it back there soon, then I am going to stop by, say hi, maybe jam a little, and make you a Blue Berry Daiquiri!

Good for you. It makes sense that you're going back. :) I recently left the US myself and loving Mexico so far. I'm on the west coast at the moment(Acapulco) but likely headed that way. Maya Riviera and the Yucatan in general have long been on my destination list. I was considering going north towards Puerto Vallarta next but Im really longing for the calm crystal clear Caribbean beaches of Tulum and Playa del Carmen.
The beaches are the best on this side. Acapulco is beautiful and a fun city. I also like Barra de Navidad about 2 hours from there. Got some good friends there.
Tulum has some of the best beaches in the world. Talcum power white and cool on your feet no matter how hot the day is.
I stayed in the mid west USA for a couple of years and was glad to move back to my warmer country in Singapore
I would love to see Singapore. I bet it was a big change for you and cold.
We welcome you. The biggest change is driving in winter and the concept of DST.:-)

Playa is the $%it!
Blow a kiss towards Merida for me! Love that part of Mexico...almost stayed in Playa del Carmen back in 1999. I am enjoying Baja for now but want to get back soon and see how it has changed. Safe travels!

I so loved it there, then I went to Palenque! I bet I wouldn't recognize Playa, I could tell then it was going to be a cosmopolitan city. I have been so busy on the development side of VIVA, we are gearing up for our ICO May 1st...it is an exciting ride....but takes so much of my time right now. Indio, place is pretty awesome. The people are great and I have a good job. Things are pretty good so far. I have been here 5 weeks so far.
EDIT: That area is stunning though. The water is amazing and full of life. I was in that area last summer and it was pretty awesome.
I know where Indo is. Haven't spent much time there. Mendocino is awesome.
Yea, it is pretty good down here mainly because of the people. There isn't really a lot to do outside of working and going out.
