Here I am Lucia again trying to find a good and virtuous topic to inscribe and share at the same time to learn about.

So the topic for today is "Care for The Elderly".

In Australia, this is a big problem. Aged Care Homes is under scrutiny as many are doing the wrong thing and are just profit-oriented companies. The Federal Minister of Health, Greg Hunt, has introduced a system to care for the elderly in their own home. This with the aim of diverting the attention of institutions, which do not meet the needs of a person and can accelerate his death.

In recent days there have been scandals related to many of these houses that are owned by a foreign investor. The question is how and why investors are interested in retirees and the elderly. The answer was raised in a local television station recently and the fact is that these houses take all the money from the pension of their residents and charge them for all the services they require.

A recent court case referred to a nurse who burned that place because he wanted to hide the fact that he had taken drugs from the kit to feed his addiction. While the incident occurred in 2011, it took the police time to gather evidence of a judicial conviction. In the fire deliberately lit, 17 people died horribly.

The perpetrator admitted to damaging an employee's car in a previous job at St. George's Hospital and he resigned because of that. He was also removed from the night shift at another location due to patient concerns for his safety. With this record, he was employed by the nursing home and was on night shift at that time. The carelessness of the owners has been questioned.

In short, people are very afraid now of what they might face if they are subjected to a situation of organized care in one of these homes. While they can handle their basic needs, such as showering, cooking and other things, the help provided by the government is designed to improve their lives and with higher quality in the long term.
