DO NOT TAKE ALL THINGS PERSONALLY | Self - Improvement Challenge - Every Friday's PAUSE FOR THOUGHT #Week 7

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Have you been anxious, exhausted, annoyed, disappointed, dismayed or being reactive over someone? Are you thinking that you're not enough or somehow believing that there's something lacking in you that your loved one or your friend makes them say something off on you or ignores you?

Pause for a while.

Think.

And assess your way of taking things in.

Overthinking makes you paranoid. It puts you in a situation where you start to doubt yourself and worse hate yourself. Surely, you don't want to be in that situation for that makes you think that you're less of a person.

The problem is... you take all things personally.

Here're some situations:

Sometimes when you meet one of your friends and you generously give a smile to him or greet him but never responds, you feel frustrated.

Sometimes when your favorite teacher never acts the way he usually does to you and somehow being cold, you immediately feel that you committed a huge sin.

Sometimes when your lover can't even send a single message to you in a day, your world already turns upside down. You feel like you did something horrible.

Sometimes when you suddenly hear some nasty words thrown at you by random people, you retaliate without second thoughts.

Now, think about this. Not all days are good.

Sometimes, your way of reckoning things make you feel you're worse but actually you're not. It is just that people do not always have sunshine in their lives. Like the season, it changes several times. People's behavior varies a lot, today's good but the next day is not. That's completely normal.

I guess you miss the point. Sometimes you just need to let it pass in order not to poison your mind of thinking that something is really distasteful or thinking that you did really something terrible to that person. Let it pass for a day or two and things will be back to normal, if not then there's really an issue going. And that's another story. (But I won't talk about it on this blog.)

Going back, perhaps the person who gives some unfavorable treatment on you is going through something that is just personal - maybe problems at home, finance, disagreement with somebody else, overwhelming tasks and the like. These kind of issues make him act unfavorably on your part to release his frustration but you don't need to respond or react impulsively. Doing so creates friction in a relationship and that results to nightmare.

Sometimes taking things personally hurt your ego more than you can imagine. Sometimes it puts your self-esteem at its lowest point.

Please don't. Save your energy and let it pass for surely things will be back to normal. Remember not all things that are happening around you need your reaction. Do not take all things personally every minute, every hour, and every day.

This is my Week 7 of my Self-Improvement Challenge - Every Friday's Pause For Thought.

(Note: I apologize for not posting this on Friday since I have been busy lately since I've come here in Tassie. I usually write my blog in my home country.)
