LISTEN, JUST LISTEN... THAT's ALL WE NEED | Self - Improvement Challenge - Every Friday's PAUSE FOR THOUGHT #Week 5
Sometimes even the best advice doesn't move mountains. Sometimes it isn't as precious as gold. Sometimes those pieces of advice are nothing but just plain words.
More often than not when we are suffering from difficulties in life we seek help from our loved ones - family or friends. They're always there to uplift our souls when we are demotivated. They're there to give moral support when things don't get right. We lean on them and we become secure.
Sometimes a simple line of "I'm here for you" speaks volumes.
But there are times that what we need is just an ear to listen, to understand us, and to emphatize us somehow. We do not need those brilliant or scholarly pieces of advice. We do not need innumerable cliches such as "You can do it!", "Never Give Up!", "Don't stress yourself with that stuff!", "Tomorrow is another day!". Those are sometimes darn insensitive. What we need is the ability of the person to listen in depth and assure us that they're always there for us, no matter what happens.
In this world where people are eaten up by technology, emotional intelligence and the ability to take time to put themselves in our shoes has become a thing in the past. It's dispiriting when people's emotions towards us have become superficial or sometimes worthlessly emoticonized like that of social media platforms. Genuineness is slowly fading. Good listeners are almost extinct. No wonder many end up claiming their own lives.
I just think that it's never too late to reevaluate ourselves. Listening is a gift that we all have but somehow buried deep down since we have been preoccupied by so many distractions in this physical world. I do believe we can cultivate the skills of listening and if we do so, surely we can change lives.
Listen, just listen, for that can move mountains. Never underestimate the value of listening. You never know, by listening you can save lives.

I agree! some of the most depressed people believe they are alone because there is no one interested to listen to their whereabouts. Some people don't need flowery advice, because sometimes, what they need is someone will care to listen. Just listen.
I couldn't agree more! Thanks for visiting ^^
