Celebrating Life Even As I'm Off The Saddle On This World Motorcycle Day!

in #life6 years ago (edited)

Reminiscing is all you can do sometimes when you look back at the things you enjoy the most but are unable to do when you really feel like it.

Today June 21 is the Summer Solstice, the longest day in the year. World Motorcycle Day (WMD) is celebrated on this day. Our club 'United Bikers of Mangalore' (UBM) in the city has a ride scheduled usually on the weekend after this day to celebrate it just in case June 21st is on weekday!

But I wasn't riding today. All I could do was spend the better part of my day making rounds of the hospital which is what I've been doing for the good part of the last year and half. I have'nt been riding regularly for a while now.

Earlier in April this year I had my final surgery on my leg to remove the metal implants inserted after a accident early last year. Things haven't been the same since 9th of Feb 2017. Apparently after the recent surgery there was some internal bleeding which caused a swelling due to buildup of fluid around my knee which hasn't subsided in about two months.

Since my surgeon was out of the country until a few days ago I decided to wait it out till he got back. Today I went back for a consultation and came back with some x-rays of my leg and MRI for my right shoulder which has been troubling me a lot in the past few months. Expecting to a undergo surgery for the latter.

Looks like I've a few more visits to the hospital before we sort these out and then there's the nerve damage on my right hand which has recovered well for most part but is quite limiting for me to get back to riding motorcycles again.

Riding motorcycles is what I love the most and in the past 16 odd years this has been the longest break from being on the saddle.

I can't say I've let the time go wasted as I've made excellent use of the past year to build up my work and also helped many Steemians from my country establish themselves here.

But it does suck to not be able to do the things that really matter. I go to bed saying it's just a matter of time now...

But that's okay. Life is all about dealing with the things that come your way and nothing is certain. I've had a fantastic year actually. I've travelled a lot, about 80 flights in all so far in 11 months.I've also managed to contribute a bit towards the growth of this platform and pretty much did the things that mattered to me outside of my passion for motoring.

Tomorrow I go back to the hospital with my reports so that we can figure out how to solve some of the current issues i'm facing with my health. But for now I can sit back and and think about the things I've already accomplished, relish the nostalgia and write about it a little. Life is pretty awesome otherwise!

Maybe I will share some of my past adventures here in future posts. Hopefully in the year or years to come, life may allow me to get back to my passion for motoring. I guess it's just a matter of time. We'll see...

What do you enjoy doing the most? Does anyone here enjoy riding motorcycles? Feel free to post some links to your Steemit posts on motorcycle riding in the comments below so I can check it out.

Riding motorcycles is one of my favorite things to do as well! I started around the age of 14 when my Grandfather would let me take his down the road for a spin. I've also spent a lot of time on dirt bikes growing up and even riding motocross tracks while living in northern Japan.

I've been getting the itch to purchase another motorcycle for myself, but I have other things that are taking priority at the moment. I hope you receive good news during your next doctors visit so that you can begin to look forward to riding again. Happy world motorcycles day!

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. I really hope you get a clean bill of health and will be back in the saddle again soon. I know what it feels like to not be able to do something you love in life due to injury, but like you said, there's no point feeling down about it as there are so many positive and life advancing things you can do in the meantime! :)

I also love motorbike riding, I however are more into the classic bikes. Here in South Africa, 21 June is however the shortest day and thus the coldest, international motor cycle day has not reach us yet. Tomorrow (22 June) it is international drive to work in your VW Beetle day here by us and as I also love the old air cooled VW's, I will also drive to work in my 1968 VW Fastback!!
Hope they sort out your health issues and that you are back in the saddle soon!!

Looking at this pictures, I realize that most of the people around here fancy your lifestyle and wonder if and how you live your life to manage doing all that in your freetime.

Meanwhile, I am sitting here in my chamber, wondering:

"Who the hell took that last picture? He's crazy!"

Motorcycles are life to many. And it is quite terrible to be stuck without a bike when you love 'em. Especially when you see social media flooded with posts about rides going on left, right and centre.

Wishing you time back on the saddle real soon. Cheers :)

I just went through your #introduceyourself post again. I could see all these pictures over there too. I wish you soon be able to do the things that matter to you the most! Enjoy your days now man!

And now I have a doubt. You said you are riding motorcycles for last 16 years. Does that mean you started this adventure when you was just 14? Certainly you are lucky to have such good parents who allowed you to go ahead with your passion even while you were still a toddler!

Thanks. Actually I started at 13 I guess so that makes it 17 years now. Folks didn't have a clue for a while.

Here's a post on how I got started: LetsTalk—How Did You Find Your Passion in Life? This is How I fell in Love with Motorcycling!

Wow.. Thank you for taking time and dropping the link. I went there and ended up reading a lot of your other posts as well! Back then most of your publishings were in trending I guess. (Maybe not. Because trending posts generally read $5000+ in those days. right?)

My story with motorcycles was quite different. I rarely used to get any chance even to sit in the backseat. Walking was our main mode of transportation. Although now we have a motorbike with us, I'm sure I can't even replicate even 1% of skillsets you might have in riding motorcycles. I wish you get back soon!

Thanks for reading through those posts. I think i'm gonna make a list of my favourite posts on Steemit. Before it's impossible to scroll all the way down.

I used to be on trending everyday but more than that I used to enjoy having the time to work on one article and give it my best. Those days are long gone.

As far as skills go, it's always a work in progress. You learn over time and from correcting your mistakes you keep getting better and better. But I would say I have a knack for this sort of stuff so I love doing this very much.

Hopefully someday once more!

'Knack' was a new word for me. I had to search in dictionary! To be honest, Everyone including me have the dream of getting huge upvotes from johalfiles, ned and blocktrades and head into trending page. In my case it is unlikely and If I'm fortunate, it would take more than one decade, that too if I work very hard! I know my contents do not meet the international standards as of now.

As far as I understand, sauravrungta, you and Aishwarya are the only steemians from India who are well known among the international steem community. But the case is different when it comes to other parts of the world. They have plenty!

You have good experience and sound knowledge in various fields. I wish to see one more content from you doing rounds on trending page without the use of bidbots. Best wishes!

Nice post. The world bike day images are fantastic. Fabulous bikes dude. Really like the report along @firepower. Thanks for haring adn keep up the good work.🐸🐸🐸🦕

Your passion never goes away.....keep biking👌

World Motorcycle day new to me. I think it is a more enjoyable day.
