Little Free Libraries - the decentralized librarychain.

I'm sure many of you have heard of Little Free Libraries. A place you can go to leave book for someone to read or grab a book to read yourself. No library card or even librarians or library buildings necessary. Some of them are at coffee shops, or by schools and churches, some of them are in front of private residences. Hardly any of them look the same. Or have the same book selection. but hey, that's alright!

MLL2.jpg

There are more and more Little Free Libraries being built everyday in countries all across the world. A map where you can look up the closest Little Free Libraries. Or a place where you can build one yourself, verify it and open it to the world when they add it to their map.

MLL5.jpg

One of the best things about Little Free Library is that you have the ability to curate and choose the book. maybe throw something in there that had an impact on you. Leave a note. Tell them it was donated by Steemit.com , encourage them to leave a review of the book on steemit. or tell them to come read your book review on steemit!
Also, its open 24/7 and available in areas where books are scarce. If its not. You can build it and people will come (moreso after you post the location on the map at their website which can be found here

https://littlefreelibrary.org/ourmap/

So if one of the over 50,000 Little Free Libraries in over 70 countries is located near you. You should make time and go check it out. Leave a book and grab a book if there is one you like! And if there isn't one near you. Maybe its time to change that and build a steemit little free library! Maybe there will be a #steemgig soon and someone (me) will pay a few of you to donate a book, or for one ambitious steemian to get paid to build a steemit little free library!

I will be going to donate a few books I wasn't able to give out while I was out doing my steemgig posted here

Thanks for reading everyone! Please resteem, like, and follow. And let me know if you think that's a good idea for a steemgig below? Or if your ambitious enough to donate or build a little library! Or if you just have suggestions to help me do better on my future posting! Have a good day everyone!

Another wonderful idea. I dont think we have a book one here but we do have a little pantry. Same idea but it has non perishables in it that people donate and anyone can help themselves to. Its amazing. And this post has got me thonking maybe i could build a book one???

Is that something your interested in doing? You would also have to find a place to put it. A local coffee shops. Or at the edge of a residents property if you have any nice neighbors, or some nice local store that will allow it.. I am going to make a steemgig about it in the next couple days. So you would get paid for doing it by me if you really did want to. Or there might be a couple SBD's just for donating book. I will mention you in the post when I make it. Thanks for always trying to do good. You are appreciated!

I think it would be a fun project to do with the kids. I would have to find somewhere it could go. We have a few local businesses in our downtown district that may get involved. I will try and see what i can come up with. Maybe the same place that has the pantry? Thank you i will look forward to seeing the post. Hopefully I can get involved somehow. Its not about the physical reward more the reward of knowing my kids will grow up to be good people helping people.

These are plentiful here in Australia, but they are always full of things like bibles and really trashy fiction. I've left a few more intellectually demanding books at them in the past. :)

Sorry i was away! The idea was a sweet as sugar. You are really brainstorming! We may look into this to make it happen but in reality i have not heard before now of anything like this or seen in my area! I am in Asia though! But you are really building on the beauty of #steemgigs concept! @inphiknit may love to grow on this too!
@stellabelle may want to read this one!

I will have 20 or 30 sbds from post rewards and from my steemgig I did the other day. I will be willing to throw in as payment/reward .. I just wasn't sure if I need to coordinate with you guys or if I should just post a steemgig and throw your name in at the end or something.. and I only kinda know what I wanted to do for the gig, I am open to suggestions. And I believe there are some in Asia. Not sure how many. But it's only a few years old now. They have added a lot if little libraries since I heard of them about 2 years ago.

No restrictions! This is one of the most beautiful steemgig out there and that is the aim! Among every other thing we love steemit marketing or steem growth too. We hope people attempt to participate when you put it, i am pretty sure they will cos it is a beauty!
We are hopeful try to participate when you finally upload.
Our recent post, so you understand that there are no restriction!

I think it would be nice to have "foreign" books in your local LFL. Especially if they are "classics" in a different country that you have never heard of.

For example I watch many animes, I know at least half a dozen that were strongly influenced by Night on the Galactic Railroad by Miyzawa Kenji, not least my beloved book girl.
But afaik there exists no German translation of that book. Isn't that a pity?

Nice Post... This is comment 800 for me... Thanks for being so lucky...
@pocketechange

It doesn't look as good as the examples in your photos, but we have a couple of shelves in our staff kitchen dedicated to this in the office I work...

Nice. We have a coffee shop that's close. The best coffee shop in the state, according to GQ or Forbes or one of them.. I don't know if they have a little free library but I'm going to go check it out and suggest it if they don't. There are a few within 50 miles of me..

I've seen a couple of them around in Inverness. One of the co-op supermarkets has one behind the tills. And some of the cafes and bars around Loch Ness have some shelves dedicated to this also.

Haha, that is great! There's not enough people anymore who enjoy books.. unless of course it's 50 shades or Harry Potter, maybe twilight. Those book came and got a lot of people reading who normally didn't I think

I think this is a wonderful concept, thanks for sharing. I will definitely check if there are any here in Cape Town! Upvoted, resteemed and followed! Have a happy day

These things are a great idea. I've seen a few around the city here, but never used one yet. Good post!
