Three Little Habits That Can Change Your Life Forever....
11 years ago, a girl 5 years of old was running to her father & with absolute bubbling enthusiasm. She comes & tells me “Dad, I am acting in a drama”. It was her annual school day celebration & she is being selected to play a part. Not as a queen, Princess & the role was a tree. All she has to do in that drama was stand behind as a backdrop & wave for the entire duration of the drama. Not the best of roles, but for her it was a huge deal & she comes & says “Dad, the event is happening on Wednesday at 3 O’clock”. She really wanted her father & mother to be there. Unfortunately though that very same day, the company which invested 100 million dollars where her father is working had come into & do annual performance appraisal. If you ever worked in a corporate company, you would know how severe the situation in that day. It’s a very important day.
The choice was easy. In fact he didn’t even have to make a choice which he already made. He spent the entire day through tension, stress & answering questions. He missed his child’s play. Later at night, he walks into his home. His kid was still awake. She was not angry. He really expected to be angry. She was deeply sad & he could never get himself to look into her sorrowful eyes. Then a spark came in his head. What is the purpose of all these? What is the use of earning so much money if I can’t even at my little girl’s school play?
That sits me apart for a journey. A journey to go & find out the true values of balance in life. Instead of seeking money, can we seek happiness? I set on two very important projects. First one is a project called ‘charge’.
Charge is the other name for graduation speechers. You know the well-known universities in the world like Oxford, Cambridge etc. all invite movers & shakers & these are big time to see Nobel prize winners, scientists, Oscar & Grammy award winning actors & singers to come ahead and really talk about their life journey. They concise their 30-40 year life experience into short 15 minutes.
Second project is called “Unpick the bucket”. The bucket mean ‘to die’ until the bucket is just not live, but live ceremoniously & deliberate life. And I found an interesting set of people, who had a very different view of life. These are people who have had near death experiences. People who have had Cancer that somehow they went on to beaten to live a second life. Someone who met really huge accident, multiple bones broken. They should have died, but by some fate of luck they survived. People who have had a cardiac arrest had go through bypass surgeries.
I notice something common across all these people. These people are really treasure their second chance of life. They value their second life. They are no longer worried about pleasing the world. They are ready to live a life true to their priorities & live a life pursuing their passion. I found it very inspiring. So I combined my life lessons across these two & I decided to follow 3 life lessons that I wanted to share in the stock.
First one, all the achievers around the world are very clear about what they do in their life. Having that clarity of vision about what they want to achieve, really spells the way how they will conduct the rest of their life. Can you list out the things which you want to do before you die?
Second one, think long term goals. We overestimate what we can achieve in a day & we completely underestimate what we can achieve after 5 years. But it’s very important to pursue long term goals & the best way to pursue long term goals is to keep chipping little by little every single day consistently. The impact will be very powerful.
Third one, you have to involve your family into your goals. All of us spend about 8 hours a day at work, but we actually spend twice that time at home with family. So the harmony that you have at home will have a huge role in shaping your life. That’s why it is very important for you to include them into your long term goals.
Please share your opinions about this. Thank You, Have a nice day…
