Just a bit OCD

Yes, I am a bit OCD. What does “a bit” mean? Simple. If you asked my mother she would say: “She just has a very artistic eye”. If you asked at work, they would say: “Oh, she’s just very tidy.” If you asked my man, he would say: “She is bat shit crazy”. If you asked me I would just explain that the vase in this exact spot ruins my zen and would then move it for an inch more to the left.

I am not a clean freak, though I do tend to clean very often. But dirt and dust don’t bother me. I kind of like dirt. Four used cups on the coffee table don’t bother me at all. I don’t have any sudden urges to pick them up, wash them and place them where they belong. No … placement itself bothers me.

Every single item in my house has its spot. Every single pin, box, cup, clothes, decorative objects, hygiene products, pens … everything has its spot and place. If you walked through my rooms and moved objects around, I will know it right away. It’s like a disturbance in my universe. The zen is ruined and it feels like a tremor coming from inside me. It annoys me to no end. You want to really frustrate me? Hide something. Preferably in the time I really need that object.

It’s the composition of the room, the shelves, a paper, a drawer, etc. Even music! Random so called chill ambient tones are my kryptonite. I have often asked the waitress to change the music or I simply left the bar. You can find the example here (I am sorry @winstonalden, nothing personal…it is me not you :D. I still love all your posts even though we don’t share the same taste in music. :D).

Give me a table and 3 objects and I will place them quite fast. Composition comes naturally to me. But to people's surprise I hate it centered or symmetrical. I like to place them so they draw the eye in. It’s the relationship between the blank space and the object. The vast space just pronounces the item in question. It is hard to explain, but I think photographers will know what I am talking about. The rest ... think of it as a focal point. I find peace and fake power in controlling small things around me.

Excessive stuff also feel so … disturbing. Cluttering. And clutter suffocates me. My man does not share my philosophy. No, he’s the “keep it, we might still need it type”.

I have a poster to make this weekend. I am slowly dying bit by bit while making it. It is always the same. Why do you even bother asking if at the end you simply want me to produce some vomit? There was two times in my life when the customer loved the product and I hated it so much I actually told them not to name me as the author, because I am to ashamed of the thing that grew from my hands.

Why do I have to battle nonstop? When I hire someone it never occurs to me to sit behind him and direct his steps. I mean he is the wo/man of his profession, what do I know about photography or plumbing? Do your feking job and make it work. If it won’t work at the end I’ll give you hell, but for sure won’t sprinkle my nonexistent wisdom at you in the mid process.

What is it with art that this line is so blurred? You asked me and now I ask you to trust me and let me do my shit. If you do not like it at the end - go someplace else. Not like I charged you anything.
