Soondae (순대)
Soondae (순대)
Soondae (순대) is a popular Korean street food that consists of a type of blood sausage made with various ingredients such as sweet potato noodles, glutinous rice, pig’s blood, and various seasonings. The sausage is stuffed into a casing, typically made from pig intestines, and then steamed or boiled until fully cooked. It is often served with a spicy dipping sauce or used as an ingredient in other dishes.
The origin of Soondae dates back to the Goryeo Dynasty, which lasted from 918 to 1392. During this time, Soondae was considered a luxury dish that was served only to royalty and the wealthy. However, as time passed, the dish became more widely available and affordable, and it eventually became a popular street food in Korea.
Today, Soondae is enjoyed by people of all ages and is at food stalls and markets throughout Korea.
In addition to being delicious, Soondae also has nutritional benefits. It is a good source of protein, iron, and various vitamins and minerals. However, because it is made with pig's blood, it is not suitable for those who avoid pork products or for individuals with certain dietary restrictions.
Soondae is my favorite food by the way.

저는 Sundae icecream을 순대 아이스크림이라는 말장난을 가끔 치곤 하죠. ㅎㅎㅎ
