Sun Shiny Day...Not! || Ini Kabut Apa Kabut Yak ๐
Good morning from super foggy Alberta ๐
Hope all is well with you guys today.
Look what I traded ๐๐๐๐
This is a screenshot from our security camera, taken just now.
While this is where we are at the moment, and it's already closer to 11 AM, yet we decided to stay in instead, since it's too darn foggy!
What a great long weekend, right ๐
What more great, my boys stopped by at the spa center of this hotel, thinking I should get pampered. Aaah what a nice idea, right? But my damn cough and sneeze are totally shit that I had to say "not this time". Me, turning down spa time???? Shocker ๐ฑ That's the first ๐ฅ But I seriously cannot stop coughing and sneezing. It won't be a nice experience of massage and whatnot ๐ข
We had a funny morning at the hotel's restaurant though. My 4 yo had a cute conversation with one of the table servers.
S (server): Awww, you're cute. What's your name?
G (my son): I'm Gene
S: How old are you?
G: Four
S: What's your brother's name
G: Mas (it's Indonesian way of calling big brother) - he doesn't call his big brother by name, like ever ๐ which I informed the server. So she then said to G
S: And you're here with your Mum and Dad as well
G: No. Mommy and Apu - Hungarian for dad/father
Hai teman,
Kami judulnya lagi liburan. Tapiiiii, cuaca di kota yang kami datang, super berkabut. Ga bisa lihat jalanan, euy. Jadinya ngedekem deh di hotel. Alamak ๐คฆ
Untung anak2 bawa Play Station mereka, jadi ada hiburan. Lumayan ๐
P (pegawai): Ih, kamu imut. Siapa namamu?
A(anakku): Aku Gene
P: Berapa umurmu?
A: 4 tahun
P: Nama kakakmu siapa?
A: Mas ๐ (seperti mas bahasa Jawa) - mereka memang manggilnya adek dan mas dirumah.
P: Disini sama Mama Papamu (mum and dad) yah?
A: Ga. Sama Mommy dan Apu (apu adalah ayah dalam bahasa Hongaria) ๐
Oke deh segini dulu. Waktunya minum obat ๐
Thanks For Looking!

Gotta love that conversation! I think it's great that the kids are learning both cultures. It never hurts to know more than one! And they have been exposed and immersed in at least three already...
I'm a lazy teacher
None of them, husband included, speak Indonesian ๐ ๐คฆ๐ ๐คฆ
They know only the basic, like eat, hungry, hurt, sleep, but full sentences, nope, and Indonesian is the easiest language in the world ๐
You don't have to teach. Just speak it to them. My granddaughter is 5 and totally trilingual. Her mom speaks only Spanish to her and her dad only speaks English and because she is Canadian she is being taught French too. Kids pick up languages really quickly. My own father spoke seven languages and every night at the dinner table the conversations would begin in one and end in another language with the possibility of several more beig spoken during the course of dinner.
LOL! ๐ Listening to kids' explanations of things to strangers is always so amusing. So cute!
Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather. Maybe if spring would ever decide to show up, we could be done with all these silly colds!
I know, right . 3 days ago was sunny, today we are having wet snow, yuck! ๐
