Az Jazz Guitar Lessons #11: Modal Jazz Basics 1 - Classic Recordings

One interesting period or style of jazz is modal jazz. The album Kind of Blue (1959) by Miles Davis is the landmark release that is most often referenced. In this post, you can listen to some of popular modal jazz compositions that are still commonly played today.

For now, as you listen to these pieces, write down 2 to 3 observations you have about the music, the playing and the style in general. In a future post, we'll go deeper into some of these pieces and what makes them special.
