Az Samad | Az Jazz Guitar Lessons EP01 | 18.05.2018

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

Learn how to learn jazz songs by ear! I demonstrate and explain my approach to learning the classic New Orleans tune, When The Saints Go Marching In.

I learned this piece from a Louis Armstrong video on YouTube. In this podcast, I explain the process and how you can use the same process to learn any jazz standard.

Thanks for the support! Stay tuned for the next one. :)

Awesome! Never heard When the Saints Go Marching In like this before. I'm definitely going to have to listen to this one again. I do believe that once you figure out the concept of anything that you'll be able to speed up the learning process. It's crazy to me that something that has a simple melody can be "jazzed" up so much if you have the ear and creativity for it as well as the understanding of the concept. Great podcast, man. Looking forward to more!

Sweet man, thanks for listening and for the feedback. Yeah this is an actual example of what I'm actually working on - it's how I'm learning songs nowadays and once you understand the concept (and develop either a) your ears or b) your patience - it's a really rewarding experience to internalise songs like this. Thanks for the support!
