What kind of name is Sindore

Let me assure you: there's nothing sinfully about it.

It's a Thalassian word, and it means "blood daughter", or more commonly, "blood elf".

Hey, pleased to meet you.

My real name is Britt Malka, and I'm an avid World of Warcraft player. The Thalassian language is spoken by the blood elves in the game, and I've picked up a few words and sentences in that language. Just for fun.

I think the game creators were inspired by Semitic languages like Arabic and Hebrew when they came up with Thalassian, by the way.

Who Am I?

Back in 1994, I woke up one Monday morning and thought, "I wish it was Friday". That moment, I decided to quit my day job, because I didn't want to spend my life waiting for it to pass. I quit in June 1995, and it's one of the best things I've ever done. Even though I loved my boss.

At first, I thought I would do accounting for small companies, but after a couple of months I began teaching adults how to use computers. That led to a gig where I had to write the tutorials, and that led to writing IT books for Danish publishing houses.

My Dream of Becoming a Writer Had Come True

Since I got my first typewriter made out of plastic when I was 10-years-old, I'd dreamed of becoming a writer.

Today, I'm a full time writer, and I write nonfiction, fiction, and emails. Not just the private, one-to-one emails, but emails to my subscribers as well. And I love it.

Britt Malka published books

Three weeks ago, I heard about Steemit - again. I'd heard about it in 2015, but didn't do anything about it back then. Now I'm eager to start writing here daily.

Pets and Family

My husband, son and I moved to Israel in 2011. We brought a dog (Tikva) and a cat (Frostie). Sadly, Tikva passed away the same year in December due to sudden illness. Although I've never been a dog person, I loved Tikva, and after a while and a lot of crying, I missed the dog personality in our home.

One evening, my husband and I went to a restaurant, and we had aperitifs and wine... and we talked about Tikva again. I told him that I really wanted a dog, and he said, "okay".

Britt, Cyril and Nefnef on the train to Tel Aviv

Six months later I got Nefnef, a Shikoku puppy. She's adorable, stubborn, spirited, mostly obedient... nah, strike that.

Her main personality feature is: she loves cats.

She and Frostie get along well. They entertain in pet battles whenever they can, and they love it. I plan to write a lot more about them, especially Nefnef here, because there's so much you can learn from a dog, both about life and business.

"Balagan"

Balagan is a Hebrew word that means "mess". I wanted to end with that sub-headline, because... well... I was born in Denmark. My family moved to Germany when I was two and spoke toddler-Danish. There I learned German and English, because I had an English friend whose mother didn't speak German.

In 2000, my husband, me, and our two kids moved to France, and it was time to brush up my French. And now since 2011, Israel. I don't speak Hebrew very well, though, but language-wise it's messy in my head. All day and night, I write in English. I speak a kind of Danish with my husband (he's correcting my Danish), but otherwise it's mostly English. I even dream in English.

Probably with an accent, though ;)

Hi @sindore. I'm @beeyou. :) I'm only on this account when I help out with the curation part, but find me on my account. We met briefly on the Steemit Comment Challenge.

Poke around at all the different places. There are many communities on here. Any one will be happy to have you. Just find some like-minded individuals in the community and you'll be fine. :)

Our initiative is small, but our members have some of the biggest hearts. Reach out to my anytime. @davemccoy is another member (co-founder really) of our community, whom you've also met in the comment challenge.

Thank you for the explanation, @beeyou :) I noticed you in that other thread and followed you :)

Hello Sindore, incredible life story! You lived in so many countries and now in Israel. I find that amazing... I know how difficult it is to adjust in another country!

I hated living in Germany when I was a child. Mostly (I think) because I was far away from my grandmother, whom I loved dearly. But going to Israel was like coming home. Very different culture, but I love it.

Britt Malka, the name sounds familiar, Oh wait! I've got one of your guides on how to publish on Kindle. Good to see you here! Look forward to reading your posts.

You do? Ha, that's awesome :) A small world, isn't it? Looking forward to reading your posts as well.

Hi @sindore! I'm new to the community as well. Looking forward to your future posts! :)

Thank you, @littlelemon12 :) And welcome to Steemit.
