Introducing myself: Tree hugger, jewellery maker and traveller.
Hey everyone on Steemit!
I'm glad you somehow found your way here to my very first blog post.
Grab a drink and get comfy while I introduce myself.
Tree hugger, like I said.
Anyways...
My name is Lisa and I'm a jewellery designer / metalsmith and photographer. I'm passionate about all things creative and am also a huge nature lover. My hands are usually covered in one of the following three: metal sawdust, watercolours or soil from tending my balcony veggie garden! Aside from working part time at a pet store and getting to see lots of cute puppies everyday, I am currently in the process of setting up my own small business. You can check out some of my work on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/nomadritualsstore
I first started making jewellery in 2014. My father is a retired goldsmith who is lucky enough to have his own workshop in his home (lucky me, actually). Back in my childhood days, we would design stuff together and I'd assist him with the soldering and sawing and watch every step of the making process with eagle eyes, it was fascinating. The progression to making my own jewellery just came naturally, but not until late last year after quitting my bartender job in the Scottish Highlands.
I guess, in a nutshell, I'm a big non-conformist. I love to travel and change my surroundings every couple of years, hence the name of my brand, Nomad Rituals. I grew up in the countryside of flat Northwestern Germany, moved to Cologne by myself when I was eighteen and then to the UK three years later. The places I've lived in so far include Lincolnshire, Nottingham and the remote Northern Scottish Highlands. Currently based in my German hometown again, my partner Tom and I are already dreaming of the next big adventure. As I said, I am a bit of a non-conformist, a big hippie at heart. The modern western system, let's put it this way, clashes with my ideals of freedom. The aim of the game is to live full time in a van by the time we're thirty. (Any suggestions or stories from more experienced van dwellers are more than welcome!)
Actually it was Tom's endless research about cryptocurrency that got me into Steemit. He recommended it and I'm excited to join the community and see what it's all about. I'm hoping that this can be both a place to share my work as well as a place to connect with likeminded individuals, whether it's travellers or fellow creatives or just anyone interested in sharing stories and knowledge.
Thanks for reading all the way until the end and don't forget to follow me on Instagram: @nomadrituals
