Initial Coin Offering (ICO) has been one of the major ways in which entrepreneurs and companies raise funds for their project. The rate at which these ICOs are launched is increasing every year. Lets take a look at some of the statistics and trends of ICOs.
USA has hosted the highest number of ICOs.
USA has hosted 429 ICOs. Russia is second with about 239 ICOs followed by Singapore with 196 ICOs and Switzerland with 125 ICOs. USA has also raised over 2.6 billion dollars through ICO which is the highest amount raised by a country.
Ethereum Blockchain is the most used for ICOs.
The Ethereum blockchain has hosted 2,225 ICOs so far and is by far ahead of any other ICO platform. However, other less popular platforms such as NEO and Stellar have raised more funds than Ethereum. This is probably because of the cheap ICO prices that they offer.
Financial Institutional ICOs have raised the highest fund.
There are three main types of platforms that provide ICOs. These are Cryptocurrency, Dapp and Banking or Financial institutional platforms. Banking ICOs have raised about 7 million dollars on average while the others have both raised less than 5 million dollars each.
ICO Performances.
ICO fund raising declined in july 2017 when the US government introduced a body (SEC) to regulate ICOs. Over countries like Japan then introduce certain measures but things are beginning to get back to normal with some platforms raising huge funds through ICOs. Example, Telegram ICO launched this year has the record for the most fund raised by an ICO.
