IANS -- Welcoming Back the Prodigal Sister to Steemit

in #ians6 years ago

This post is laced with nepotism — get over it. There, that’s out of the way.

In October 2016 my youngest sister, @artemisnorth, joined the platform. She made several posts, some of which were @curie’d and she drifted off. I don’t really know why, that’s her business. It was the platform’s loss in some ways, as I consider her to be very talented in several ways.

Sibling rivalry has never been a problem for her and I.

Recently, she returned. Started with a few visits to listen in to Pimp Your Post Thursday. Then twelve days ago, during a PYPT she worked on and put up a post — Where Are All the Fiber Artists?— I was so proud of her.

She eased herself in with some shots of the day posts. @artemisnorth does some really beautiful photography and has a library of them to share. That is one of her talents.

While some people might be a bit surprised to learn that over the years I’ve sewed, knitted, crochet, done needlepoint and even petite point — I don’t don’t have near the passion for fiber arts that @artemisnorth does.

She has done some beautiful and creative work over the years and continues to do so. Some from patterns and some of her own design. She wants to share about fiber arts and she wants to interact with them here on Steemit. She also wants to entice some of the people in a Facebook group she’s in to come and join the platform.

After some conversations with people like me, @patrice and others she’s decided where she’s heading on the platform.

HEY! Wait at minute here @shadowspub, just how is re-introducing someone Introducing a New Steemian? Well, that is because this post is also about introducing @fiberartists

This new account is being run by @artemisnorth to find and curate the fiber artists on STEEM.

She’s made two posts on @fiberartists:

The first one What are Fiberartists? explains who fiber artists are. She also has announced there has been space created on the Steemit Ramble Discord where Fiber Artists can gather to chat both in text and voice. The area is for Fiber-Chief @artemisnorth to make their own.

The second post Criteria for Being Included in the #Fiberartists Curation lays out what she’s looking for when curating posts.

Back over on @artemisnorth, she posted What the Heck is a Bullet Journal? in response to a conversation she had during the afterchat at PYPT last Thursday. When she mentioned using a bullet journal several people wanted to know what it is.

If you haven’t caught on, I’m really pleased to see my sister back on the platform sharing some of her many talents. Proud of you sis.

In the full spirit of @gmuxx’s IANS initiative, all the SBD from this post will go to @artemisnorth to encourage her to keep up the great work.

I’m inviting you to click over to her accounts and show your support as well.

I warned you there would be nepotism. LOL

Thank you @shadowspub !
Like you I also have a family network on steemit :) I get tonnes of support from @pennsif and @mivstar and together we encourage @tinygalaxy and @jen0revision (who are normally too busy to post... but hopefully that will change soon.

Also, like @artemisnorth, I have not really done an intro post (shame on me, but your post has inspired me to write one soon) ... As you can see I am fairly new and started trying to post a colour challenge photo a day but there's never any response apart from my close network... I have also posted a couple of my drawings (and would like to post more). I have been lucky to able to join in the #needleworkmonday group and as all fiber related things it's a very supportive environment. Both @crosheille and @crystalize are excellent hosts and to me, and any newbie, that's essential : to feel guided and inspired.
Apologies for the long post, but I wanted to write a thank you to you too.

oh no apology needed @cryptcariad, nice to meet you. I know @pennsif, he's a regular visitor to PYPT on the Steemit Ramble... nice fellow but don't tell him eh?

Photography is a tough tag to get traction in but don't let that stop you from doing your best with something you enjoy. One of the keys to success on the platform is joining multiply communities and getting to know folks. If you aren't on discord, would be a good idea to join. There are some great chat communities on there and great way to get to know folks in both text and voice.

Just a hint from the curator in me... when doing your drawings, take photos throughout the process and then when you post, talk about your drawing process and what inspires you. That will get a lot more notice than just putting up the finished picture.

Hope to see you drop by the Ramble. :)

Thank you so much @cryptocariad! It is truly our pleasure and we have had a blast sharing with you all! I am so glad you have felt guided and inspired which were our main goals!! 😘 I love our crafting community!!

Hello @shadowspub! This was a great way to re-introduce @artemisnorth back to the plattform and sharing her goals and project ideas! When I seen her fiberartists posts I thought she was new to the community and then she shared with me who she was. I was following her from back then because I loved her knitted work she posted. I’m excited to see how the crafting community grows and I am really excited that another passionate crafter is back and wanting to support the community! I’ll have to get on Discord with you all to chat soon.

As @cryptocariad stated we crafters have been meeting on Monday’s for #NeedleWorkMonday and @crystalize and myself have made efforts to make everyone feel welcome and upvote every post to support and encourage them! There are so many talented handiworkers here and it has been Amazing getting to know them and sharing our work together. I think the initiative that @fiberartists is starting will bring even more craft talents to the surface and even more people will start sharing their lovely skills! Thank you for all of the information! 😊

oh that is awesome that you remember her from when she was on before. It's hard when you have a break from the platform trying to get momentum back. With the curation efforts that should help over time to give the quality original content more exposure.. sounds like the making of great teamwork.

Maybe some of you will start meeting over coffee and chat in the voice channel :)

Oh yes I couldn’t forget her work!! 😀 I’m sure she will get back in the flow in not time, especially with the support of her sister!!

Yes I think the curation will definitely help with more exposure of quality content of the crafters! I see the making of great teamwork too!!

I’m hoping so! I would love for us to get together and chat!!

I had read through her intro post for finer arts, but didn't think to much of it. Now the second time around, you've got me curious about all the possibilities. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

I hope that you noticed it's Fiber Arts not Finer Arts that she wrote about? how those dang typos can changes things eh : )

You're so right! I hate to admit it, but I suffer from FFS or Fat Finger Syndrome. Makes steemit on the go difficult 😉 Oopsies!
