My landscaping is really coming along and we have finally planted our placenta tree.

I’ve always consider retaking a bit of bush in back of our house and building a bit of a yard. Well a couple years ago when we renovated the house the city forced our hand when they made us replace our field bed and septic system.

It ended up taking quite a bit of extra fill to sort everything out back there, and when I say ‘a bit’ more like a lot ( like 200 full size dump truck loads). I’ll have to dig up some before and after photos and show it off eventually.

Well I finally had a chance to taper the final grade after it’s all settled, and also get the last section of seeds planted.

We also had the chance to finally plant our ‘placenta tree’. Yeah your reading that right, when you have a home birth the one thing they don’t tell you before is that you a responsible for disposal of the ‘anatomical waste’. So we ended up with a couple placentas in our deep freeze over the last few year. We’ve been back and forth a few times about what tree to plant and where in the yard. We finally settled on a weeping willow at the back of this cleared portion.

I must say I’m excited about watching this tree grow for years to come and becoming a massive showcase in the back of the house.

It’s really starting to be a great place to just sit out and enjoy and watch the sunset!
