THE FIRST WHITE CHICKEN EGG ON OUR HOMESTEAD..... HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

in #homesteading6 years ago

Well, that was a first!

Just the other day, we found our first white chicken egg on our homestead. Ever since we started keeping laying hens we have only had light brown eggs, but now we are getting a periodical white one. Something has obviously changed. Do you want to know what changed?

NOW WHERE DID THAT WHITE EGG COME FROM?

Just the other day we celebrated the eighth birthday of Pinkie-Pepper. At one point, I gathered up the older @little-peppers and took a walk over to a neighbor's house. Unbeknownst to Pinkie, they had a special gift that they wanted to give her for her birthday.

This was an interesting one, since we did not know that there was going to be a chicken in the gift bag! It wasn't in there long and had plenty of room to breathe, but they told Pinkie-Pepper to open it right away. She was sure surprised!

They were also getting rid of their other chickens, so they told us that we could buy them if we wanted to. Since the @little-peppers have been saving some money lately and they are doing a good job with their schoolwork and chores, we allowed them to pick some up.

In the end we got five new laying hens. Two were gifted to Pinkie-Pepper for her birthday and the other three were purchased by the @little-peppers. It was a very happy day for those @little-peppers!

Anyway, many kinds of chickens lay different colored eggs. Some may be white, grey, bluish, greenish, or many shades of brown. New chickens means new eggs, and in this case, it also means a new color! Mystery solved!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

this is cool, but in our place all of his chicken eggs are a lot of white, because we keep the chicken, and it's his eggs very much its efficacy, especially for adult males @papa-pepper.

too bad this side in Uganda white eggs are rare..actually i think i have never seen one😧😧 which is really heart breaking..
thou am.really glad about your white egg.. in my culture they would conclude that its a sign of good luck..

I really like your idea .. from where you get an idea like this ..

Its been a long time have seen a white egg. A fowl may lay 8 eggs, 7 may be yellow and 1 white. Guess the white is the chosen one.

Different colors from different hens.

Haha, I know the feeling!
We have had brown egg layers for years. This year I happen to have one leghorn hen, (the only female from a batch of ordered fertile eggs), and when she started laying, the novelty of her white eggs was astounding. The kids collect the eggs, and they LOVED the white eggs almost as much as finding a 'fart' egg, or the rare shell-less egg. ♥

LOL - Ah yes, the rare, shell-less fart eggs!

Haha, those are ultra-rare! :D
