INTRODUCTION

Greetings my fellow steemians, hope you are all doing well? You're welcome to my blog once again, and i am happy to be part of this interesting contest in @steem-cameroon community, and the contest theme is National or international Awareness day.

And in this post i will be discussing about international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking by following the contest guidelines.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING?

The international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is also known as world drug day is always serve as a reminder of the global effort in fighting drug abuse and Illicit drug Trafficking.

The international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking is always observed on 26 june of every year to raise awareness on the negative impact of illicit trafficking and drug abuse on people, families and Communities and also the importance of treating and preventing drug addiction.

World drug day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in December 1987.
The purpose of international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as world drug day is to raise awareness in Promoting the international cooperation in fighting against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

By doing this it gives the opportunity for individuals, organizations, and government to share information, engage in activities and come together in Promoting drug free societies.

The observance of international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking also serves as an opportunity to highlight the need for balance approaches that address the main causes of drug abuse and to provide access to effective prevention and treatment.

HOW DO YOU OR YOUR COUNTRY CELEBRATE THE DAY?

In my country Nigeria, the international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking also known as world drug day is Celebrated with the aim of raising awareness the activities and initiatives about the dangers of drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

And some of the few ways that Nigeria and their people celebrate this day is by doing a public awareness campaigns, sports events, workshop and training programs, community Engagement, etc.

WHAT IMPACT DOES YOUR COMMUNITY GAIN DURING AND AFTER THE COMMEMORATION?

My community, like any other community gain several impact during and after the international day against drug abuse and Illicit Trafficking, and some few impact they gain during and after that day are;

1. Increase of awareness
2. Policy development and implementation
3. Community based interventions
4. It improves access to treatment and rehabilitation, etc.

WHAT ISSUES OR CONCERNED WILL YOU RECOMMEND TO BE COMMEMORATED THIS WEEK AND ON WHAT DATE?

I would like to recommend world remembrance day to be Commemorated on every 31st of june, because a lot of people who died have been forgotten along side the good thing they did.
