Country Representative Monthly Report, Ghana - December
As stated in the new directives by @steemitblog, country representatives would present a monthly report stating all our active steemians arranged alphabetically, special activities/contests organized, problems we have faced and our future plans to grow the presence of steem in our country. Country rep @oppongk has already presented our first list of active steemians a few weeks ago here. As such, I am therefore presenting our monthly report.
LIST OF ACTIVE STEEMIANS
We have recently received 3 additional newcomers : @akobafken, @barristerben, @hak4-gh who were recruited to by @delakloe and @nas-gh. They have all been left a message guiding them to post through Steem Ghana Community and to also read this post for valuable resources that would guide them on things they could write about.
Active steemians at the beginning of the month : 15 source
Below is the current list of active steemians.

ACTIVITIES AND CONTESTS ORGANISED
- MEETUP: We have been very keen on connecting with our steemians for easier communication in order to keep them active here on steem. This was the main reason behind our meetup at the Sapphire Gardens at Atasomanso in Kumasi. It was surely a great success as we saw its impact within our Steem Ghana community. Several dormant accounts have now become active and the number of subscribers reached more than 110 with about 63 active posters. Thank you so much for all the support steemit team. We are looking forward to seeing our community amongst the trending communities very soon 😊.
- DISCORD MEETING: After our meetup, an important suggestion was made by @mcsamm to host a weekly meeting on voice. We therefore agreed to meet on discord at least once a week to have a voice chat where we would discuss issues concerning the growth of Steem Ghana and address problems some of us might be facing. We have already had our first fruitful discussion on the discord channel where we discussed some important issues with regards to delegations and the new curation system we will be using for our posts.
- DELEGATIONS: @steem-ghana delegation is another thing we highly encourage our steemians to do. This would provide us with another curation account with which we can reward our steemians aside the @steemcurator04 account we have been using. So far, we have an effective steem power of 4,808.70 SP with these delegations from our steemians.
- 10% BENEFICIARY TO @STEEM-GHANA: We have encouraged our members to set a 10% beneficiary of their post rewards to @steem-ghana. I and @oppongk started doing this to encourage our steemians to do same. So far, if any of our users consistently set @steem-ghana as a beneficiary to more than 3 of their post rewards, we will label them as "@steem-ghana donor" for easy identification by the curation team. We would be checking to see that they continue to do so else their badge would be removed.
- GHANAIAN FOLKTALE SERIES: We realised that some of our steemians face some difficulty in writing of posts aside their diary game posts. But since most of us grew up listening to such folktales and stories about our african culture, we thought it would be the easiest way to get more posts coming from our members. This contest therefore gives our ghanian steemians something to write about when they are out of ideas.
PROBLEMS WE HAVE FACED AS A COMMUNITY
The main problem we encountered as a community was about the curation of the posts we receive from our steemians. There was just too much pressure on the @steemcurator04 account since we did not have a system in place that controlled when and who would be using the account. I made a proposal to all our african representatives which tabled a discussion on our WhatsApp platform. We then agreed to make a schedule post which would guide our curation and ensure that each country would have a country rep ready to use the account when it is their turn.
OUR FUTURE PLANS
We plan on starting various projects including charity events, clean up exercises, and floats. We will therefore deliberate on how to successfully execute these events since some of our members live further away from us.
The weekly discord meeting we have initiated would be featuring presentations on salient topics such as next week's cryptocurrency presentation by @anaman. We would then present a summary on such events to the entire community.
We are also planning on hosting webinars to guide our steemians. This is because not all of our users are close to as since some of us live in other regions. An online webinar series that would cover various topics such as
We are also planning on hosting a bigger meetup next year where we would meet more steemians, guide our new recruits and foster a better connections among ourselves.
I would like to say a big thank you to our other country representative @oppongk for all his support and work he has been doing for our community. My appreciation also goes to vibrant steemians like @mcsamm and @nattybongo who play an important role in our activities, and would also thank all our other active members. Indeed, we cannot run this community without all your efforts.
My special thanks goes to the steemit team for all the support they have rendered. We are always open to the suggestions from @steemcurator01 as well as that of our steemians. I strongly believe that with time, consistency and hard work, we yield positive results in this community and yield great and positive results here on the steemit ecosystem.
Thank you for your attention.
