Traditional Croatian Carnival Masks From Kukuljanovo

Kukuljanovo is a village above Rijeka & it is also the place from where the surname "Kukuljan" comes from.
Again the group flag carrier has a very important role & place
This photo shows again tattooing - what is not a real Croatian tradition but it shows the Glagolitic alphabet on which the Croats were baptized - so, as the Christianization of Croats was not really traditional at the time, the Christianism became a traditional religion later & same happened in the modern times with tattoos.
As you can see, this bell-carrier group also has an original uniform.
One of the very specific characteristic of this group is the black color on their faces.
All the upper shots I made with Nikon D800 & Sigma 105 mm 1:2.8 DG Macro HSM lens & for the self-portrait below I used the same camera but different lens - Nikon AF Nikkor 35-70 mm.
In the next few days I will be publishing photos from other bell-carrier groups cause all of them have a different uniform which is really interesting to see.
