Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit? Yes, i do. Voting here on like Facebook has a reward which is distributed to users who post quality content, it is distributed from a system known as the "reward pool". Those who distribute the rewards gets about 50% of what they distribute. What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting? The 50% split the curator receives during the first 5 minutes is calculated linearly based on the time the vote is cast. The duration of the post will help to determine what the curator will get when a post gets an upvote. For instance; When a post gets upvoted immediately it's been posted, 100% of the curation reward remains in the reward pool. A minute after the post, 20% goes to the curator while 80% is left in the rewards pool. 2 minutes after the post, 40% goes to the curator and 60% is left in the rewards pool. 3 minutes after the post, 60% goes to the curator and 40% is left in the rewards pool. 4 minutes after the post, 80% goes to the curator and 20% is left in the rewards pool. If the upvoting on the post is done 5 minutes or later, 100% of the reward goes to the curator. In voting, there's what is called the voting mana which is like an energybar which goes down little by little each time a vote is cast.
There's something also known as upvoting and downvoting. Each post has a green and red arrow.
The green arrow is used for upvoting which indicates that the user's content is of good quality and it gets a curation reward while the red arrow is used for downvoting.
Curation is a way of voting.
