Hello steemians I am here again to share another achievement here at the Newcomers Community. Hoping I could get verified for this achievement so I can do the next one. I finished my Achievement 2 and was already verified. I am thrilled to do the third achievement. I remember way back 2018 here at steemit there was Cheetah the bot that catches bloggers that copies posts and not cite were they got the sources. Well it was a great way to identify those who are doing their best at writing and those who are just merely copying. Please do visit Source to know more about achievement tasks.

WHAT IS ETIQUETTE?

(/ˈɛtɪkɛt/ and /ˈɛtɪkɪt/; French: [e.ti.kɛt])

  • is the set of conventional rules of personal behaviour in polite society, usually in the form of an ethical code that delineates the expected and accepted social behaviours that accord with the conventions and norms observed by a society, a social class, or a social group. In modern English usage, the French word étiquette (ticket) dates from the year 1750.

Here at Steemit I think we should apply the what we call as Netiquette. Netiquette is a combination of the words network and etiquette and is defined as a set of rules for acceptable online behavior. Similarly, online ethics focuses on the acceptable use of online resources in an online social environment.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU?

We here at steemit you must be familiar with the rules and apply the same standards online as what we do in public. Respect the rights and abide the given regulations. To be guided, you may follow and read the article by @Cryptokannon at the Newcomers Community

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

To steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one’s own: to use (another’s production) without crediting the source”

Many people think plagiarism is stealing someone else’s words, but it also means stealing someone else’s ideas. In other words, even if you paraphrase a text, the idea still needs to be cited.
The phrase “without crediting the source” means that it’s okay to use the words and ideas of others, but you have to cite the source to avoid committing plagiarism.
Source

So that means wherever you get you information from if it is not yours you should always cite your sources and acknowledge where you got them.

All of the following are considered plagiarism:

Turning in someone else's work as your ownCopying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
Failing to put a quotation in quotation marksGiving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving creditCopying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Direct Plagiarism

When exactly each word of someone else's content is being copied word for word. So for those who does direct plagiarism it is a ground for expulsion or disciplinary action.

Self Plagiarism
This happens at school when students owns a paper work being submitted. Using an old paper work from previous submission is what we call self plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism
Borrowing of phrases without the use of quotations or even just the use of synonyms but still having the same structure from the original is what we call mosaic plagiarism.

Source

Do's

  • Create quality content using proper citation or source link if using other peoples information or photo.
  • Read and rephrase but still cite the link of where the content was taken.
  • Use your own photos as much as possible.
  • In using quotations don't forget to mention the author or writer

Dont's

  • Don't copy everything.
  • Don't use other peoples photos and information.
  • Don't steal other authors idea.

Remember Plagiarized content will not be rewarded.
Any type of plagiarism should not be permitted here at steemit. In a way we should respect others creation and acknowledge them. We may quote or use the information we learn from others but not use everything that they have written. I hope in this way we can use our creativity to make quality content here at steemit and be an inspiration to others by writing good content.

See you again in my next achievement, have you written yours?
