HOW VOTING AND CURATION WORK
Voting and curation are two important terms in the steemit community. They are terms that explains how rewards are distributed amongst members of the Steemit platform.
Curation itself is a general term for many activities done to commend a post for it's high, average or low quality.
The term curation involves, voting a post (upvote and downvote), commenting on a post, or rẹ steeming a post. These show what a user feels about a post. When any of this is done, a post has be curated.
Voting in steemit is the act of rewarding a quality content with some amount of dollar which later pays out as steem. The reward given to a post at the time of voting the post depends on the number of Steem Power the voter has in his/her wallet. In Steemit, the influence of a vote on a post starts from 500 Steem Power which rewards a post with $0.01. For 1000SP $0.02, 1500SP $0.03, 2000SP $0.04 and so on.
Each time a Steemit user votes on a post, the voting manna reduces by 2% but this is recharged by 20% daily.
Voting itself can be done by the individual person and can be done in a group by following the curation trail of a community. A curation trail consist of many users who pool their steem power to collectively vote.
The rewards gotten from voting on posts is called curation rewards The rewards gotten in curation trail is higher than the rewards of an individual's vote because it is a combined vote.
Steemit is designed to reward those who write contents and those who curate them. A user can write contents and also curate making him or her get two rewards being a steemian.
Each time a person votes a post, he or she gets have of the rewards give to the post. So for example if a user votes with 50% of his voting power on a post and the reward is $4.5, when the post pays out, the user will get $2.25 if he does not vote within 5 minutes window of the post.
What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?
Voting on a post before 5 minutes mark after the post has been made benefits the reward pool more than the person who has created the content.
Though the distribution of rewards between the curator and author of a post is 50%/50%, the curator will get more than 50% if the post is voted at 3,4 or 5 minutes of the post.
At the time of making the post, if a curator votes on it, the author doesn't receive anything as 100% of the rewards remains in the reward pool as no reward will be distributed when the post pays out.
At 1 minute of the post, a curator receives 20% of the reward while 80% goes to the reward pool.
At 2 minutes, the curator gets 40% and 60% goes to the reward pool.
At 3 minutes, the curator receives 60% while 40 goes to the reward pool.
At 4 minutes, the curator receives 80% while the rest is sent back to the reward pool.
At five 5minutes of the post, 100% of the reward is given to the curator.

@JUSTYY who is my favourite witness developed the steemyy DApp which is a very powerful tool to execute transactions in the steem blockchain. @STEEMCHILLER developed steemworld, a very simple, yet powerful tool to use. Then @FUTURESHOCK and @ROADOFRICH develoled [SteemScan](steemscan.com], one of the block explorers for viewing transactions, blocks and accounts information on steemit.
I love these guys so much and I shall vote for them any time, and any day.
