Good day @cryptokannon and all the admins here in the newcomers' community. Here I come again to carry out the task on content etiquette. I am going to show my understanding about the concept of plagiarism as the steemit platform frowns at it.

CONTENT ETIQUETTE.

Etiquette is simply defined as the proper way of behaviour in a setting or organization. Every field in life has its etiquette. We have eating etiquette called table manner. There is business etiquette and many other forms of etiquettes.

In writing and content creations, there are etiquettes. Content Etiquette is therefore the proper way of behaviour that should be learned by writers.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Plagiarism can be defined as the act of taking someone else's written or published work and presenting it at one's work. It is a deliberate act of theft that involves stealing another person's idea to present to present in one's work without proper reference or citation of the original owner of the work.

In writing, it is expected that writers who are deficient in knowledge about a subject should borrow works written by scholars before them in their write up and should acknowledge them, giving them credit by citing and referencing the original writer. Whenever this is not done, it is termed plagiarism.

Plagiarism comes in diverse ways. This brings me to the types of plagiarism.

SELF PLAGIARISM

When someone reuses a major section of their previously published work without giving credit, this is known as plagiarism. Normally, this is done in the academic part.

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM

Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author’s language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original. Sometimes called “patch writing,” this kind of paraphrasing, whether intentional or not, is academically dishonest and punishable.source

The type of plagiarism I explained above was taken from a source directly. I quoted it and also provided the source from which I took it.

DIRECT PLAGIARISM

This happens when someone duplicates another person's text word for word without using quotation marks or attribution, and then presents it as his or her own. It's also widespread in the academic section, and it's against the principles and ethics of ACADEMIA. This type of plagiarism is also called verbatim plagiarism.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM

When a person forgets to cite their sources, misquotes them, or mistakenly paraphrases a source by utilizing similar words, groupings of words, and/or sentence structure without acknowledgement, this is known as accidental plagiarism.source

The explanation above was gotten from a source but was paraphrased. Since I didn't copy it directly, I provided the source.

How to Avoid Plagiarism.

• Have a deep understanding of the subject area before writing.
• Always cite authors of copied content
• Always reference the source from which the part of a work was written.

EFFECTS OF PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism can lead to ban in the field of content creation and a serious law case in the court of justice. It can also attract jail and imprisonment in severe cases.
