Greetings friends and fans of macro photography. In this opening that our Steem Lens community is now giving, (see post), I am pleased to announce a 6-week season of Macro Photography learning challenges, titled: “Show your Macros and Earn SBI Points (Steembasicincome).

Participate in our macro photography challenges and show your talent by capturing the beauty of the small details that surround us, while you learn with weekly challenges taking your macro photos.

I'll explain it to you, whether with a cell phone or a specialized camera, weekly you will be challenged to put knowledge and skills into practice when doing macro photography.

1️⃣ Weekly we will focus on a theme from which to put your skills into practice when capturing photos with a macro approach.

2️⃣ Each Weekly Challenge will have at least 3 practical activities or exercises, consisting of taking macro photos following a series of specifications.

3️⃣ You make a post, where you show us at least three photos that you have captured that week following the instructions for each exercise, these will be evidence of your learning and evolution..

Macrophotography as a photographic technique captures close-ups of small objects, which we cannot detail with the naked eye. Macrophotography then presents much larger images of said objects or parts of them, for example, their details. As art macrophotography seeks to enjoy and admire the beauty of the world of the tiny.

Sometimes, however, it is difficult to distinguish a conventional photo of an insect, or a flower from a macrophotograph taken of the same objects. This publication will help you recognize some characteristics that are generally present in a macrophotography. Let's look at three of these characteristics:

The main characteristic of macro photography is the ability to get very close to the subject to be photographed. This is done by physically approaching it with your camera or cell phone (in macro mode), enlarging the shot with the camera's zoom, or mainly or using telephoto lenses and macro lenses of different sizes, which adapt to both the camera and the cell phone.

This is related to the framing and type of photographic shots, which is why macrophotography is also known as close-up photography. Well, the details of the subject are shown very closely.

The background, in macro photography, plays an important role in highlighting and giving prominence to the main subject. Generally, a soft, out-of-focus background is styled. But this is not a law, in the second example that I share with you, you can see that both the background and the subject have equal sharpness, but here I used the contrast of the colors of each one as a differentiating element, figure-ground.

Here we want the background to be more of an ally, moving it to the background and blurring it, to bring the eye that observes the focal point that you want to highlight in the shot.

Related to the previous one, in macrophotography, the minimum focusing distances are used (this is something that is programmed with the camera), to capture those details or parts and highlight them as much as possible, making them very clear to the eye.

Macrophotography is characterized by its precise focus on the main subject, or even a small part of it. We call this “focus” or “focal point”, which is where we want the eye of the person viewing the photo to be directed. This gives macrophotography great sharpness and clarity in the captures of the object or living being being photographed.

Although there are more characteristics, I believe that these three are fundamental to differentiate a macrophotography from a conventional photo of a small object. Close-up distance, focus and sharpness, as well as proper management of background depth and sharpness, are key elements in creating striking images in macro photography.
