Capturing Moments Wk1: Introduction To Photography

Every post we see on Steemit is colorful and of high quality through the use of pictures, and the act of taking these pictures is called photography. As content creators on Steemit, our mobile devices or gadgets serve as a backbone for producing quality content.

We may be intentional about using original pictures for diary game entries and other creative activities that demand the use of original pictures, as the case may be. Others may not be intentional about using pictures from their devices and may prefer the use of online pictures that are well sourced from free sites.

Whatever contents we create, be it a diary game entry, nature, physical tutorials of food, or other activities, we don't need to be photographers to get a good glimpse, as photography isn't just about how good a mobile camera is. It's also about how well you know how to position it and the concept you can produce with it. So this contest would be more like physical training that will help you know how to:

• Set up your mobile camera.
• position your mobile camera.
• Apply creativity and concepts when creating content on Steemit.
• Use a catchy, original picture that makes your post unique.
• apply photographic ideas, editing, etc.

The contest will include a brief explanation of some concepts before assignments are given. No one person can win twice in a month, as this would be the rotation. Rewards would be given.

About Photography

The word "photography" means a light drawing or drawing light. i.e., photo means light, and graphy means drawing. So photography is the art and act of capturing and producing images or pictures with the aid of light rays. You know you can't capture pictures without light, as it would be impossible to produce an image.

Photography is made possible through mobile devices or a physical camera or lens. For a start, the following questions would be used to prepare us for what will follow through the course of this class: Next week, we'll be deliberating on how we can set and position our mobile device camera to bring out quality images, irrespective of the phone.

Contest Hints

• Which phone do you use in taking pictures on steemit? State challenges faced if any.

• How does the use of original images other than sourced pictures improve the quality of a content?

• State the advantages of using original pictures on steemit posts

• Provide pictures of you taken with your phone's camera on both Photo and Portrait icon. Then state the differences in the photos if any. E.g
