Hat Yai City Municipal Park II

From the Guanyin (Guan Inn) Temple in the Municipal park, we went higher up the hill to see southern Thailand’s tallest Buddha. At 25 meters tall, and weighing 200 tonnes, “the immense golden statue, weighing 200 tonnes, casts its serene eyes over the entire Songkhla Province from atop Hat Yai Municipality Park’s highest hills. - 👉 Source

After having a look at and around the area of the standing Buddha, we proceeded to the mountain top to see the ‘Four-face’ Buddha. The ‘Four-face Buddha is very popular with Buddhist followers. Many went to pray for one thing or another. If, and when their prayers were granted, they will go back to give thanks and show their gratitude.

Setting off firecreackers is one way of givng thanks and showing gratitude. When we were there, one guy set off four sets of firecrackers. I heard whispers that his prayers for his sickly wife to recover was answered. So he has come back with his wife to give prayers and thanks to the Buddha.

Elephants are revered animals in Thailand. Statues and sculptures of them are all over the temple grounds.
