Lawmakers In Kansas Approve Of Industrial Hemp Bill

in #hemp7 years ago (edited)

A lot of areas are looking into the possible benefits of implementing industrial hemp farming into their economy. And a growing number of states are looking to make changes in order to allow for their citizens to take part in cultivating this plant.

Recently, lawmakers in Kansas passed a bill that would allow for industrial hemp production in the state.

The bill, known as House Bill 2182, is said to have drawn support and enthusiasm from the community, but law enforcement in the area is said to have expressed concern over the initiative. Should we be surprised? After all, if they lose the opportunity to arrest folks over plants, then they might have to look for more pressing matters to attend to in life. Despite the archaic view and stance of law enforcement on this matter, Kansas officials look to be pressing forward.

Why Industrial Hemp?

Farmers in Kansas are having a very tough time with the dry climate as of late and they are looking for a crop that is going to be able to help them to utilize that dryness and they think that hemp is the one to meet their needs.

If passed and implemented, HB2182 would newly allow for research and business development when it comes to cultivating, distributing, and processing, industrial hemp. It also seeks to encourage to promote public-private partnerships as well as further academic research.

It's still a little discouraging that it's 2017 and we can't seem to bring ourselves to allow people to grow a plant that might potentially benefit thousands of people in that area (and millions more throughout the US and around the world). And that instead, we are still at the point in life where we feel the need to insist on getting force involved in the matter. Imagine the sort of productivity and advancement we might see if we just loosened up the reigns a little bit on the control and instead opted to embrace true freedom and true peaceful voluntary exchanges not only in this market but in many others.

For now, when it comes to a plant like hemp, we still need to get violence involved. And in order to take care of the paperwork that pertains to growing this harmless plant, the Kansas Department of Agriculture is going to oversee licensing and other logistics related to it.

I often wonder how different our vehicles would be now if hemp had been allowed to progress in that industry from Hendry Ford's model - t (which was made from and ran off hemp) until today. We would be living in a completely different world.

Thousands of people? I think more like everybody that is alive and generations to come :D

yes thousands, Kansas has an estimated pop of 2.9 million and i am not sure how many of them smoke cannabis but it's also estimate that is around 4% of the population. So when I said thousands I was thinking about who might be benefited in the immediately surrounding area, but yes you are right there is potential for millions of people to be benefited in many ways so i've edited it to include that point. Thanks for your comment!:)

4% smoke, but the farmers and consumers are what I was implying, they can directly benefit as the plant is the best plant to stabilize soil and rejuvenate it, in fact in the black Hills South Dakota where there's numerous open pit uranium mines, thousands in that region of the country, they could use the radioactive loving/neutralizing plant to deal with the tragedy that's a testament to how much the government doesn't care.

Hemp has the best high. Niggas don't know.

haha you can't smoke hemp... its has low thc etc...You have to smoke a whole forest before you get high.

Niggas dont know but Hemps the best high in the game mang

I agree with you, hemp is far more beneficial than harmful, particularly in industrial use.
I would never use Marijuana myself, just like any other brain altering substances unless I get cancer and need it for pain management. However most studies say that alcohol is far more harmful for brain and liver. And alcohol is legal.

sugar is a brain-altering substance............a quite worrisome one at that. And arguably even worse for you than cannabis when it comes to chronic use over long periods of time.. but yeah :)

Actually I agree with you on this one as well. Sugar is dangerous to one's health. Quite recently I started to avoid sugar after using too much of it for far too long. I hope it's not too late.

It depends if you eat cannabis or smoke it. That's a huge difference. Smoking will destroy your lungs. But there are people smoking their whole life. And become 80 years of age. And some died at the age of 35 being a vegan suffering from cancer. Que Sera Que Sera

alcohol absolutely ! causes lots of car accidents, promotes tons of abuse and conflict, assaults etc, damages physically, but legal - as it should be because people should be free to choose what they put into their own bodies.

Animals and Psychedelics: The Natural World and the Instinct to Alter Consciousness
Not to be mean or anything, but to adopt a position that closed minded, ie to not explore "brain" altering substances as you're clearly surrounded by a plethora of "brain altering" mechanisms not just substances has zero benefits. Let me reiterate that, you are either afraid or in denial of the fear, as it is a very natural process of altering ones consciousness, so far 15,000+ species do it, from insects to monkeys, and living in fear is equally living in a brain altering mode.
