Invisible Disabilities [Dabbing with a Mage episode 144]

in #health6 years ago

Disabilities come in many different forms. While many disabilities are visible, such as that of a missing limb, there are just as many which are invisible to the naked eye. Living with an invisible disability can be extremely difficult, especially when one has the appearance of being healthy. Join me in today's episode where I discuss this in more detail.

Oh yea, this is worth joining btw, fantastic group I am proud to be a part of.

Thanks Earthtribe!!!

Awesome! Thanks y'all!

This post is absolutely something I empathize with, due to my own state of constant pain, after having lost my floating rib cage, in favor of the 3 titanium ribs and two pieces of cadaver fibula I have in there, with the missing and relocated muscles from my own body, the peripheral neuropathy and constant structures moving in my chest (having had to teach myself to breathe again, since I do not expand like most people do when they breathe)...and some of the other things like CPTSD/OCD (being poisoned to death by the hospital X4 will do that to a person.

I love your shirt in the video, too. Rhino power all over this one, my friend. I'm burning us some broad leaf sage that I have been growing on my yarden.

May we be blessed. ✌😎💘

I can absolutely see why you would resonate with this post so deeply. Carrying these weights is so difficult in a world which requires validation through visual means.

Thank you! I was noticing that after I was rewatching the video myself, haha - rhino through all the way!

Blessings, mein friend!

I hear ya on not calling people's bluff on being in pain, but sometimes it is obvious people are just seeking meds for addiction, and that I do care about, helping those people does not involve giving them painkillers, it involves not giving them painkillers. I can easily tell that is not the case with you since you are seeking a solution and not a cover-up, and even if you were seeking a cover-up, it would be justified in your case. Blessings bro, I hope we figure this pain thing out eventually, no one wants you to suffer.

It is a double edge sword. People that get hooked on pain pills become so sick and dependent on them. It really sucks. I usually try to persuade people to just tuff it out and try other methods other then opiates. For most, it’s well worth it. Being dope sick every other day, is not a nice life

The saddest part of all this is that there are studies that show that NSAIDS and Opioids/Opiates are not much different in the long run of pain management. Cannabis, however, has shown incredible pain managing qualia.

That’s the problem with opiates. I know from experience that damn they work so good, but only for a couple hours, then you got to keep popping more, then before you know it you on the street trying to score some heroin. Our country or even the world has a mess in their hands. But cannabis is a great tool to heal the world. Do crazy, bob Marley once said herb will heal the nations. That’s some truth!

Yeah, but even an addiction is an invisible disability in my opinion - though I do agree that to help them would mean to not give them painkillers; however, only those who are ready to help themselves are capable of being helped. By denying an addict of their drug of choice, you are inherently causing more suffering. This is why I agree with 100% decriminalization, safe access points, and public funded rehabilitation for those ready to get help. Deny an addict their addiction and they will find another avenue.

You know me quite well, I'll wait to even take Kratom until I can't see straight from pain. I struggle some days with other substances, alcohol mainly, but I do my best these days to not mask what I'm feeling. I know what I need to do for the pain, it's just a bit out of my reach for the moment. I'll certainly get it figured out in due time. Thank you for your support, bredren.

Addiction starts off as invisible, but Soon starts manifesting itself in loss of job, home, thievery, and maybe even death etc etc.

Actually, that is only a small demographic. A large percentage of addicts are functional. But, yes, it can manifest as such.

That’s very true. But eventually it catches up to some in some way.
