Divine Pyre - An invocation to the Fire Element [Original Poetry]

in #poetry6 years ago

I have placed altars throughout my home dedicated to the four Elements (Water, Fire, Air, Earth) in accordance with the cardinal direction of each. These four Elements represent different archetypal energy patterns within our reality construct which are expressed through the many different aspects of the Universe.

The Element of Fire represents many forms, but in my home I use it to focus protection, and conscious, and divinely inspired thought.

Alchemists often refer to the mythical legend of Prometheus and his grand journey to steal fire from the gods and return it to humonkind. Fire is one of the most important symbols and tools of the Alchemist, so much so that they obtained the nickname "Philosophers of Fire." Like the legend of Prometheus, Fire to the Alchemist represents the divine spark of intelligence fed to us by the gods. Achieving this Fire is all but an easy task. In order to be bathed in the flames of the gods one must burn away their mundane desires and incinerate their instinctual habits in order that the path be cleared for contact with the higher consciousness. Only then may one bask in the glory, the wisdom of the Divine Pyre.

Upon approaching the Fire altar, an offering is made. Holding the offering out before the altar, speak out loud, or silently repeat:

I offer this gift of (Your Offering Here) to the Mid Day Sun of the North to invoke the Element of Fire.

O'eternal sword of consciousness
Your heat moves me to think
A strength unmatched
Alas,
Great power yields potential
For substantial destruction
A macabre theatre; a dance of creation
Only the initiated
Shall cease to falter
In your presence
Rejoicing in your regency
For your dominion
Is Infinite

Place the offering upon the altar, give a bow to recognize the respect given, and move onward to the invocation of Water in the West (this step is only relevant to those who are invoking each of the Elements).
