Devil Gundam: Finishing Inner Frames [Leg Modification - Part 113]

in #gunplajagatraya6 years ago
Hi guys!

Today, I will finish the inner frames and do several quick test fit. So here are updates on Project Devil Gundam!

Progress on Inner Frames

First, I cement the inner frames with each other then I redo the holes using manual hand drill. This is to make sure that the holes between the pla plates are align with each other.

Test Fitting

Next, I test with all the inner frames with the runer I'm going to use as a peg. I also fix the inner frames that looks like its going to break apart.

Toe Test Fit

And now I'm testing the inner frame with the toe I've prepped beforehand. Since each of them are slightly different I'm not going test fit every inner frame with this toe.

The plan is I'm going to test fit as I go to find a good pairing for each inner frame and toes. Actually there is a way to make a perfect copy of the toe and its inner frame using casing method.

But I've prepped all the toes and inner frame already so I'm just going to go with this method.

So these are my update on Project Devil Gundam for today.

Keep on steeming! Have a nice day!

Quick access tutorial:

  1. Fixing broken peg using gunpla runer and several tools.
  2. Fixing holes using cement and plastic scraps.
  3. Making C-Joints using pla plates.

nice work on making so many! Ive also been making some prototypes of shoulder and arm joints but you’ve cut out quite a bit more pieces than me already lol.

It looks like your holes are very straight and square. Do you have any tips? Every now and then my holes/pins turn out at an angle and i have to re-cut the piece.

I made this like a few months ago. Although, I think I made the inner frame in a couple of days after I finished the prototype.

Some of the holes aren't flush since I had to re-drill the second pla plate. Normally I would drill on both pla plates first then reshape the pla plates which should make the holes align perfectly. However, since I will cement the runers inside the inner frames that kind of precision isn't necessary for this mod.

As for the holes, I always mark the center first before drilling it. The mark should at least help your drill bit get a grip on that first touch. Then I just keep my hands perpendicular with the surface.

If the holes you're making are long/deep, you might wanna stop now and then to check if they are straight.
