GoldenHour Photography – Sunrise thru Foliage – Koh Samet, Thailand

This is my entry in the GoldenHourPhotography contest by @juliank.

This "Golden Hour" happened to be in the early morning.

I recently spent 2 weeks on Koh Samet, Thailand. Since all of the island's beaches are on the eastern shore, I did not get to see any sunsets. However, we did get some glorious sunrises.

I snapped this photo one morning at about 7 a.m. Although the sun was well above the horizon,  it was almost hidden behind these trees.

While only a few rays shone through the "tiny" pinhole in the foliage, the brilliant stream of light reflected off the ocean held the promise of another great day.

Nice picture. I can see two trees in a lovely Valentine's mood 😍

If you can see that, your imagination is better than mine! 😍😍
But now that you say it, I can agree with your perspective. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hope you bring more of your imagination and creativity to your Steemit blog.
Keep imagining and keep creating.

Thanks sir, yes I do and I always follow you because your works are great

Very beautiful sunrise. That island sounds like a very remote and nice place. I'm sure the costs are not that high? :) keep it up. Upvoted.

Quite remote and very reasonable. I had a very nice cabin with hot water and A/C, right on the beach, for 1000 baht / night. (That's about $35!!)

Koh Samet sounds refreshing and rejuvenating. Is that expensive? Maybe I shall give it a try!

I had a nice little bungalow for about US$35! 😍 It was right on the beach, and there were about 10 other guesthouses resorts along that stretch of beach. All were separate by some space / trees, and all were accessible.

Food was a bit more expensive than in a Thai city. Whereas you can get a decent meal for 50-80 baht on the mainland, once you get to the island, the prices jump to the 100-200 range, or higher. Not cheap, but still affordable for even a budget traveller. (Depends on the budget, of course.)

The beach where I stayed was very quiet. One of the better restaurants closed at 6:00 p.m.!! Kinda early, but that gives you an idea of the LACK OF action on the beach.

If you want something more lively, go further south, to Koh Chang. White Sand Beach on K Chang is quite lively, and even a bit too noisy for my tastes. (Depends on one's age, maybe.😍)

If you like cheap, quiet, clean beach Ko Rong Samloem (in Cambodia) is a winner!

A few years ago, I read about those islands off Sihanoukville. I read that they were getting busier and a bit noisier. But if you've been there recently, maybe you can assure me that they're still quiet. Right??

Not all of them. Koh Rong is a "party island", Koh Rong Samloem is quiet but it depends in which beach you go...People say cheaper than in Thailand, but then I never been in Thailand!

I still turns out beautiful. What camera do you use? I like the tiny hole light. Good timing!
We also have amazing sunrise and sunsets here in the Philippines and a lot of islands to choose from. We have more than seven thousand islands. :)

Yes, I know about Philippine sunsets. ☺ Here's a very beautiful one I photographed from Moalboal, on Cebu... https://steemit.com/goldenhourphotography/@majes.tytyty/goldenhour-photography-sunset-over-negros-island-from-moalboal-cebu

Oh... cool you’ve been here already. Are you planning to come back? Where else in the Philippines have you been.

It’s a really beautiful sunset you took. 😊

Yes, that was a really beautiful sunset, and I have a few more taken around that time. I'll upload sometime soon.

I spent a week on Moalboal, and another time, I spent 2 weeks on Mindoro. Both wonderful.

I'm not planning to go to the Philippines, but maybe I will get there again someday. (I lived in Asia for decades, and now I'm in Thailand, and semi-retired, so I could easily fly to your country.

(I'd kinda like to see what difference Duterte has made. Maybe it's still a bit early, but many of my Filipino friends say he's made changes for the better. More safety, more security, more hope for a better future. Do you agree?)

Yes, I think it’s for the better if the people will cooperate and not being negative.

I heard diving in Mindoro is good. Did you dive when you went there? I like swimming with the sardines in Moalboal. I was lucky one time, I saw a sea turtle.

From where are you from originally?

No, I don't dive much, cuz I wear glasses, and underwater, without glasses, I can't see clearly. Just like when I went to see the whale sharks at Oslob, I could see them better when I was sitting in the boat. :-)

I'm from Canada, but went o uni in the US, lived in Japan many years, and also lived in India and Singapore for several years each. Now ... I'm from planet earth!

Are you in Manila? Or the provinces?

I’m from Southern Leyte but I live in Cebu City now. I think you can have a graded diving mask so that you can still see underwater. I have some friends who bought like that kind of mask.

I’ve tried to get an open water license but I didn’t get it. I have a problem with my ear equalizing.

Question: which trail do you follow for an auto upvote? I’m trying to learn how it works. 🤔

Do you mean for "giving" out auto-upvotes? I use SteemDunk.

It's very easy and convenient. The only thing is that, I don't read as many posts and dont engage as much with my "followees."

Amazing photo. Your sunrise is very beautiful. Despite the small brightness and saturation of the photo. Good luck to you and kind regards.

Великолепное фото. Ваш восход очень красив. Несмотря на небольшую яркость и насыщенность фотографии. Удачи Вам и Добра.

This photo is artfully taken Sir @majes.tytyty It's a pleasure following you because obviously, you always give your best to everything you do and generously shared it to your followers. Thank you.

Thanks for your comment and your compliment. Yes, I do try to make each post interesting in its own way. I ensure that they are either educational, beautiful, or interesting.

Steemit does not need any (or any more) so-called "shitposts." I abandoned FcBook cuz most of the posts on that platform were horribly insignificant shitposts. I spend plenty of time creating material for Steemit because it's worthwhile, and because I get much appreciation for my efforts.

Hoping you too continue to make high-quality posts. Full Steem Ahead, always!

Awesome photography Thanks for sharing it
I also love sunrise photography because sunrise is my favorite and second is Rainbow
Keep it up and please also mention Which camera you are still using ???

My camera is just a simple click'n'shoot FujiPix. I just keep an eye out for good scenes, then try to make a proper composition with decent light and interesting accents. Sometimes the photos turn out good, such as this one.

its good Thanks for your view no doubt this click is awesome

I like the way the sun is reflecting off of the sea. Good luck in the contest.
